Checking a used BOV

Hey

Is there a way to check a used BoV for leaks?

I found one that says it's already been crused and has no leaks, but I was wondering if theres a way to verify that.

At 30 bucks, I guess one can't be picky, but hey.

And is there a way to tell if it's 'crushed correctly'?

You could make a BOV tester out of a bike pump and an old UICP with a BOV flange on it.

if your buying it off someone and its not on the car i would hold off on buying it... most people dont know how to crush them properly... i would try looking for a uncrushed one i can buy them all day for 30 bucks

i have a spare uncrushed one if you want it....

Well I found three, only one is already crushed, so I have options.

dont spend more then 30 on them though, they are a dime a dozen... but if you ever reach the point were you need to hold more boost then what the 1g uncrushed can handle, then you can crush it and make sure it is done the right way and know that you are not using someone's messed up BOV

Most of the time guys will pull their perfect 1G BOV's in order to install some ridiculous trumpet to their intercooler piping with hopes of announcing to the entire world that their car is turbocharged, so chances are there's nothing wrong with it.

Hook a vacuum tester up to the nipple on top and pull as much vacuum as possible, and see if the valve holds it.
