I need to know if it is okay for me to drive to work tomorrow. I was boost leak testing my car and I think I accidentally went over 20 pounds once and then I had a puddle of oil under my car and the oil was coming from where the down pipe meets the turbo. I lost about a quart of oil into the exhaust system. I drove around the block to dry and burn up most of the oil which I have started doing, but I am smoking out everyone. Did I just majorly screw up something, or am I okay and that just happen when too much pressure goes into the system? I need to know asap. Thanks for any help you can provide, I really appreciate it. My mods are listed on my car info.

If you want to make sure your car is OK, you have to do a compression and leak down test. If your motor passes these two tests, look to see where your oil leak is coming from. That definitely will give you a clue if your car does not stop smoking. If you'd like an educated guess, I would start with your turbo.

My turbo is only 4 months old and no longer has a warranty, so I am hoping that isn't it.

For good measure, I wouldnt. If theres a way you could bum a ride, Id do it.

You dont have enough time to do much diagnostic. Id consider investing in a cheap old toyota for a backup car. I had a 93 camry that was a hoss. She could take just about anything.

I wouldn't drive to work tomorrow at all. Check your turbo tomorrow because after all I did remember you saying that you bought it from SSAUTOCRAP.:toobad:

Clean the oil out of your LICP and as much as you can out of the compressor, see how much oil is in your SMIC and drain it (so you dont pump all that oil into your motor), then start the car and get oil pressure up, shut down the car, and see if you've got more oil in the LICP. If you do, you may have blown the seals. You may be able to do this on the hotside by pulling the downpipe off and cleaning any oil out of the O2 housing you can reach, then start the car, build oil pressure, then see if a noticeable amount is coming out of the hotside.

I'm not sure what damage you do by driving the car with blown turbo seals, but if you've not significantly damaged anything, you may be able to rebuild the turbo. No clue how much an evo3 rebuild kit is, though, or if such a thing exists.

Yeah I know, but read this thread. I remember him defending them....Just hope it's not his turbo which it might be...hopefully we'll find out later

I was defending my turbo, and the fact that most people that give the company crap haven't even used one of their products. If someone got a crappy turbo from them, then by all means rag on the company all they want, but if it is just hearsay, they need to keep quiet. Besides I ended up with a true MHI Evo 3 16g from them, I think I may have lucked out though. It isn't the turbo's fault anyway, it's my fault for putting more than 20 pounds of boost pressure into the system. It would have happened with any turbo. To date I have had no trouble with the turbo I got SSAutochrome. In fact I drove the car to work this morning and the smoke finally went away. FYI the oil was only on the exhaust side. There was no shaft play either. Anyway, there was no smoke after I went on the highway and when the smoke stopped I tried boosting and the car boosts just fine with no new smoke coming out. I have also kept a big watchful eye on my oil pressure and oil levels and they haven't changed. So thanks for the advice guys, but I think I may have lucked out here. At least I have a spare turbo if I did blow a seal.
