Can someone please tell me where I could find a write up on the installation on a 2g GST? I checked out vfaq and there wasn't the step by step installation. So if someoen could please post one it would be greatly appreciated.

Well. I guess Im one of the few here that are not pyromaniac's. I had no need to use any kind of heat, fire, burn it out, etc. And it took about 5 min.

Heres what I did.

When you get your motor mount off of the car, get yourself a drill and bit, any size will work, but don't go too small or too large. A 1/2 or similar is a good size. Now drill a shitload of holes into the rubber on your stock mounts. Now they get all squishy and are quite weak. Now remove as much of the rubber that you can.
Now, w/ a sawzall and metal blade, put the saw inside the rubber area and start cutting through the thin inner steel that was pressed in by the factory. Don't cut too much, as you may start to cut through the outer mount. Once the inner mount is cut through, get out a flathead screwdriver and hammer. Pound that flathead in between the inner and outer peices, and start twistin, and prying, etc. Keep pounding the flathead around and prying, etc. Eventually you will be able to remove the inner ring of steel, by hand, or w/ your hammer, b/c you took all the pressure off of the outer ring, thus allowing the inner ring to come out easily w/out a press.

Your way works as well, but I found that it is not necessary to remove any rubber as long as you use the correct blade in the sawzall. It fits in the gap in the rubber mount quite nicely.

Ok, Im sure that works as well. However, Its quite a bit easier to bend and pry out the inner ring w/out any hard (or soft) rubber standing in its path. I mean it litterally took 2 minutes to remove the rubber, and it made the job quite a bit easier.

Damn my thread is going to end up starting a fight LOL. Is anyone from KY, NC, MS, GA or TN that would be willing to help me because after reading all of this, im going to end up messing something up LOL. I have the Prothane kit for my 2g GST

Don't say that. Its really a quite simple mod that is very benificiary. With an extra hour or two, some commom household/garage tools/ and a bit of elbow grease a single person can easily tackle the job.

I don't know but I always have some way of screwing something up. I follow the correct steps but soemthign always end up happening and I wont be able to get it back together right...... :sosad:

Haha, no fighting going on here :thumb: . Just two different ways of solving a similar problem. It's not hard either way, so just get out there and do it.

Some people put their underwear on with their left foot first and some people use their right foot first. Either way each gentlemen puts his undies on is still the same difference. DSMers use both feet btw! Either way that was suggesting that you remove the bushing will work and there both quite simple to do as was illustrated by previous members don't forget to remove that inner ring. Hardest thing is aligning the bolt holes after the mounts are installed. Other than that be prepared for a solid mount in the engine compartment on a TSi. Use a manual it will show you where the mounts are just have to get used to looking at things upside down that's all.

Hey guys I also have a real quick question. Yesterday I had to sell my prothane kit to one of my friends because I had a unexpected problem yesterday. What is the difference between the energy suspension mounts and the prothane kit?

the ES one is useless.. just inserts into the front and rear i think it is. my friend has it on his FWD. did nothing.

Are the Energy Suspension Inserts full inserts or just the kind that fill in the empty space on the stock mounts? If they are anything like the ones I just installed on my brothers RSX, the install would be simple, the front mount on our car would only take 5min to do. I haven't touched the rear but it couldn't be that hard.
