so i might pick up a evo 16g.
what other mods/parts do i need to get in order for the 16g to work?
here's what i think i need...
1. new injectors - which kind should i run for daily driving?
2. new fuel pump?- will i need a new one?
3. new manifold - i think you need this for the evo 16g right?
4. turbo hook up kit? (waterline, oil return line?)
5. DSMlink with eprom ecu?
will i need a new intake?
how much boost do you think i should run for daily drving?

please tell me what i will need, if im missing something or if i got something wrong.
thanks!

Turbo looks good. I'd say go somewhere in the area of 600cc injectors, a cast manifold or tubular manifold (aslong as it is mitsu flanged doesn't really matter), a walbro 255 will do, pretty sure they sell install kits for 16gs (oil lines, water lines, gaskets, etc) but you should be able to reuse your factory coolant lines, dsmlink is never a bad thing, and you could run between 15 and 20lbs, might need a afpr though. Good luck

Well, I'm not going to go all out. I'm just putting the turbo on with no other mods. Since its a 14b I think i won't port the exhaust manifold or o2 housing. Any tips on the install? Anything I should upgrade?

I am also running a 14b on a 99 GSX check out my mod list. I am still running stock injectors, they are however getting close to their max at the 18-20 psi I am running right now. As it gets colder they will get even closer to their max so I will have to lower boost. I do have the re-wired fuel pump according to this readme http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/articles-electrical-wiring/313914-2g-fuel-pump-rewire-pictorial-diagram.html. The car feels great and is lots of fun and easy to drive. You don't need all my drive-train mods I just happened to break my 5th and reverse gear so I ended up getting a built tranny from www.jacktransmissions.com (Great Service).

As for another Tuning solution I would look into getting EvoScanfro logging (25$) EvoScan OBDII Mitsubishi MUTII DataLogger Scantool, An OpenPort 2.0 Cable(for flashing ecu) tactrix, and ECUflash for flashing your ECU EcuFlash - OpenECU.

Here are the threads that involve flashing the 98-99 ecu, very fortunate as those years are the only flashable ECU's!

I am no genius but I am crafty and capable. Read through those threads, yes there is at least an hours worth of reading to understand what is being talked about but I spent 25$ on Evoscan and 190 on the cable and I have been able to remove fuel cut, manage my fuel maps and ignition maps, lower my knock sensitivity at lower RPMs, rev limiter, launch control, and other options all for cheap. Ceddy is working on a new release of his "Ceddy Mods" which should have even more features. Flashing your ecu can sound intimidating but it is straight forward and like I said go through the threads, download the programs and get a feel for things and you should be on your way to a very quick and fun to drive car.

That is a "small" 16g. I put small in quotes because isn't not actually much smaller than the big 16g. It flows about 2lb/min less :) . And is more efficient up to choke. It's an excellent turbo. And will do 350whp all day long, with proper supportign mods of course. Good choice.

I just want to ask, have you even USED the SEARCH button. This site is getting ridiculous, it doesnt take much to click search and type in 16g, or 16g install or something. Everything you have wanted to no can be found already answered, and not to mention look at the upgrade path.

READ the VFAQ on 16g installs/porting. It will save you a lot of time asking questions here.

Also read the upgrade paths. A 14b even at moderate boost levels may be enough to max out stock injectors. At the very least, rewire your fuel pump. You'll also really want to port the O2 housing and turbine housing. The wastegate exit footprints on both are different, which is going to cause a flow problem that could lead to boost creep.

Seriously, read the VFAQ.

How to install a (14b/16g) TD05H turbo on a 2g.

Porting the turbine housing.

Porting the O2 housing to match the wastegate outlet.

The newbie section is for asking newbie questions not thoroughly answered by the common sources at our disposal ;) . You always have to search first . . . Don't sweat it. Just remember to search first. If you didn't find your answer, then consider this as a litmus test that you have to get better at basic searching.

Regardless, you have your answer now. Go have fun.

As of now, do not buy any manifold out there, your obviously not out to set records. The stock 2g is more than enough, a evo3 manifold ONLY has a bigger outlet, one that can be matched with 5-minutes with a little grinder. Yes a ebay o2 is ok for you, now if you get a o2 dump, beware, they tend to get loud. Most of these ebay o2 housing are being sold with name brand turbo kits.
