Hello all. I have a 1998 talon tsi. After 10min of driving the car develop a random missfire/studder
I noticed if I unplug my cam sensor on left rear of engine the missfire goes away instantly.
Is sensor no good?
Other things to check?
The sensor was new from rock auto last year. Only driven car a few times

When is the last time you did plugs and wires?

That is normal, not the misfire, but the unplugging the cam sensor eliminating the misfire, the cam sensor is used by the ecu to detect the misfire, once the ecu detects several events then it will flag a P0300 etc and shut down the misfiring cylinder, what year ecu are you running?

Its orginal. So 98

A failing crank or cam sensor can flag those types of codes in the ecu, as can a literal misfire from say a bad set of spark plugs and or spark plug wires, try taking some water, say about a cup and add about a tablespoon of salt to it and put it in a spray bottle and spray your spark plug wires down really good, preferably at night, and see if you can see sparks leaking from the wires.

will try this. Its really odd the car will only start to misfire once its warmed up. Seems the longer the car runs the worst it gets but its 100% random miss
