I was wondering if anyone knows what this connector is under my steering wheel, it has a red light that is on 24/7 and I was thinking it might be for an alarm but have no idea. I followed it as much as I could without removing the dash (for now) and still can't tell what it goes to. I'm still pretty new to owning a DSM so as far as I know it could be a standard connector, ABS maybe? Any help would be great so I could stop wondering why this red light is always on.

Thanks for the input. I guess I'll have to go in there this weekend and figure out what is hooked up to, maybe I'll find a brand or model number on there somewhere. I'll let you guys know what I find.

Could be a connection for a "Dongle" Key - where one adds a "dongle" (key) of sorts in the socket to do something (like to disable the alarm completely while occupied, or even disables the clutch switch with the key in the socket) with the alarm system or similar.

in all my years in DSMs I have never seen one. trace them down to see where they connect. if it doesn't cause problems then leave it or take it out.
one possibility would be the car was fittied with the Ignition Interlock Device used for people convicted of DUIs.
