Quick Question Regarding The underdrive pulley and crank for a 1997 eagle ESI.

Recently i snapped the alernator belt. I figured while i was at it ide replace the serpintine one as well (the timing is brand new).

Now the underdrive pulley seems to squeel loud as all sin. I did have it at the dealer and they think i have a crank seal leak. Along whit this i noticed when i attempted to pull the underdrive pulley off (unorthodox pulley) the pulley seems to spin in either direction and the crank doesnt seem to lock.

As on most other cars (mainly american) there is usually what they call a crank key (half moon shapped device) that hold the crank in place if the engine is not turning. In these cars is there suposed to be a device that keept he crank from turning seperatly from the pulley OR does it jusrt have that one long bot that hold them together?

What i was thing was that if i was missing a key, that could be why im squeeling and y i have what looks to be a crank seal leak.

Any help would be greatly appreciated...its going to cost me $418 to have the dealer replace it unless its sumthing i can do relativly easily

Yes;
that one long bot that holds them together

That's it. Is there any evidence that you have a leak? Looks like you need a new pulley UNLESS when the pulley was put back on, it was not tightend down all the way.
You say you snapped a belt and the new belt is squealing. The geometry may be wrong. Total possibility that whoever did it did not get the bolt tight enough (or may have even cross threaded the bolt; which would suck) If it's just the pulley, do it yourself or have a nearby DSM'er put it on. Not very intricate and you or they could do it MUCH cheaper.

Yes I lose a great deal of oil and the only spots i see it on is near the crank, and on the side of the oil pan (and now in my hood since it hits the belt and gets flung up)

I think thats what ill have to do just remove the pulley and bolt and put new ones on. the Pulley does seemt o have some wobble in it as if its not fully centered or its bent. I just hope thats it
