Twin scroll knowledge

Great read:thumb::applause: It was nicely explained and easy to understand.:D I guess that does it....:hmm: It's time to go with the big turbo/twin scroll combo for sure.:hellyeah:

Here's some info: Mazda scientifically tests single scroll vs twin scroll turbos - RX7Club.com
And a ton of info here as well: evolutionm.net - Search Results

If drag racing and top end power is all you care about, then go with a Single Scroll or Undivided Turbine Inlet.

If Road Racing or Auto-X is your thing, and if you care about transient boost response, area under the curve, large turbo street-ability or power delivery, if any of this matters to you, then run a Twin Scroll or Divided Inlet Turbine Housing.

Figure 12 of that Mazda article should sum it up for you.

At the end of the day, both housings will make the same power, TS just gets you to the power sooner.

I like my twin scroll set up. Divided T3 on a BW 362 with Comp 272's I was seeing 20psi at 4500-4600 RPMs on a stock 7bolt. Hopefully by this summer my 2.2 with Kelfords will be put together so I have a quicker spool and larger power band.

Wow I am looking into that turbo with a TS setup but didnt know whether to go T3 or T4 with it. How does the car feel all around with your mani setup with this turbo?

Feels great even though I never took it above 20psi. If. Your looking at the 362 stay with the T3 whether its the .76ar or the .85ar. Hopefully this summer ill get it finished and to the track. I started a thread on talk about this turbo and steve93talon has a thread about his results on link forums.

And to think some still deny the proven results of twin-scroll.

I'll be going with some variant of a 30r in T4 TS housing.

IMO a T4 would be would be to big for a 30R. Check out the BW 259 with the billet blade in twin scroll. :hellyeah:

I agree with DSM. The guys on EVoM forums say that you should go no bigger thana T3 with that turbo. A t4 mani will kill it all around unless u go with a 35.

I was speaking to EvoDan from EvoM and he's running high 10's at over 133mph with a 35r and a T4 divided mani setup on 93 pump gas. He had a T3 TS prior with a 30r but claims that the 35r with the T4 has made a world of a difference even though his prior setup worked well.

I see Steve93Talon is using the same setup u have with the T3 that you have with impressive results. Between him and EvoDan I'm pretty indecisive on which to use.:hmm:

Steve was using the .85 housing with 280's and still had full spool just over 4K. Im thinking of getting the. 85 housing and getting the billet 366 blade.

I love my twinscroll setup also. On my hx40 6blade and a 16cm^2 TH, with little tuning, I was very impressed with spoolup, 20psi BEFORE 4K rpms and 28 shortly after. I don't have adj cam gears so I can't play with overlap, but would like too. And I need to up timing more to help spool. I just need to get some more tuning time (i had to park it for winter).

This is a street/weekend car.

Do it! :) Only thing is only a few places make the divided T3 manifold and are pricey.

Are u using a T3 mani or a T4?

I put my deposit in for my mani and intercooler. The builder is just waiting for me to decide T3 or T4. I am gonna go with the 362.
Intercooler will be 26x4x12 inches.

They r gonna go with 1.5inch runners either way I go. If I want more topend pwr with some lag I was told go T4. Good pwr, quicker spoolup, little choke up top go T3. T3 is more streetable but T4 will still be more streetable than a T3 single scroll with big hotside.

Decisions ,desicions!!! I was told to go with a 1.06 hsing either way if I use a turbo that flows like a 35R. I need to get the S362 and send it down to them.

Anyone wanna buy a brand spanking new 6 blade HX40 can pm me!!:thumb: I've got 14cm,16cm and 18cm T3 hotsides. 14cm came bored already to fit the HX40.
