Not sure if this is the right area to post this. But I’m trying to gather as much information as I can on twin charging. I’m completely new to it and I’m trying to just figure it out. My main spot of confusion is how the pluming for the intercooler piping and everything will go. I can only find a few videos of Evos running twin charge but nothing about the actual how to. Thanks in advance. A quick run down of what I’m working with. 4G63 engine. Eaton m90 supercharger. Evo 16g turbo. DSMLink.

Also, I know there is a kit you can buy for the Evo. But I'm trying to do this without spending 3500 dollars on a kit. TIA
 
Doesn't answer your question but you're adding a lot of complexity when we have decades of tried and true methods to go faster. If this is a budget issue I offer the following....

Not so much as a budget issue. Or the hunt to go faster. More of just wanting to do something different, learn something new, and make nice noises. I know there are ways to do it. Im just ignorant on the process.
 
We're all about reinventing the wheel with dsms but you gotta ask yourself, if this is a seriously good idea, why hasn't everybody done it? If your goal is to be different, forge ahead.
because it's complicated, and 90/100 dsmers are not even capable of bolting stuff together.
 
Honestly, my goal is to be different. I know that it’s possible with this engine and this specific supercharger because I’ve got pictures of one that has come through somebody’s shop once before. But the pictures are about 12 years old and the person who has the pictures doesn’t know any of the specifics about the car. Just that it was a first generation And the guy did rally races with it. Said it was making around the 600 hp mark. I can post pictures if necessary to see if we may be able to track down the owner on here. Supposedly he’s a member.

Not looking for why isn’t it done. But more how do I do it. I know it’s complicated. But isn’t that the life of a DSM?

It can be. Just nuts, bolts and screws with a bunch of wires. Anything can be done, where were you planning on putting the SC and driving it. Its pretty cramped up front. 🤔

I think the car you're looking at is ray Peters. There is information on twin charging on this site.
 
I'd be curious to know how much cylinder pressure there is before you make any real oil pressure and what the expected lifespan of the bottom end bearings are.
 
Guys. I just need to know how to run the piping and do I need any special butterfly valve to stop the air from going into the supercharger after I full boost. The health of the engine, how hard it’s going to be, how much power I may ir may not make, none of that matters to me at the moment. I just need to know how to do it.
 
Turbo to IC to SC to Motor. Isn't your SC in the place of the Intake? Looks like it is, so that would have to be the "order" of piping.

The pictures aren’t my car. It’s one that I found pictures of. And there’s a lot I can’t see. I need to really just talk to someone who has done it. Or knows 100 percent how to do it. I can make the intake. I’m building the engine to take the boost. I just need the knowledge of how to do it.

I'm not saying this to be disparaging, but realistically if you can't look at the pictures you have already and understand in your mind how you need to go about this and have at least a basic plan of the fabrication required it's probably not a project you're capable of taking on.

The turbo side of the equation is pretty much the same as any other DSM, so now you need to fabricate an intake manifold that allows mounting a supercharger in place of the plenum. You need a place for the throttle body. Where will the fuel injectors go? You need to figure out pulley sizes, locations, and belt routing. You need to fabricate charge piping and intake/air filter location. What about an intercooler? Before the supercharger or after? Air to air or air to water?

For tuning, it probably isn't much different than tuning a standard turbo setup as long as you have the right sensors since the engine doesn't really care if the air is coming from a supercharger or a turbo or both, it just matters how much there is.

I had same idea many years ago, but just with supercharger with electromagnetic clutch to switch, custom intake and no turbo... but thru the years i decided to let it be, but concept its still an option, even i have the turbo fitted, but with 16g evo3 it have no effect to add supercharger .. first idea was to "alive" bottom end range of N/A engine ...
