Ok so now my car runs and runs good and strong at 12psi stock. I want to upgrade and get rid of all the stock turbo setup and have heard and read so many different things to get for this and that!
I want a streetable but also respectable ride out of it. Ofcourse cost is a big part but i already have a few things laying around. I have a Garrett turbo-TR0759 on the hot side and A/R .48 M10 on the boost side (whatever this may be called) and it has a t3/t4 bolt up. I think it came off a 420a eclipse or is an upgrade for that car but I'm just now getting into DSM's and havent a clue and well, researching it all just leaves me stumped! I need to know what I need to get that wont hurt the wallet too bad and give it a significant increase in power while leaving it streetable as a "daily" driver. Any and all inputs and/or advice will be awesome.:aha:

The 16g always seems to be a nice upgrade, and very streetable. just make sure all your maintenance is done beforehand

And this would be a simple bolt on new turbo and go or what? would it need more fuel or and different map?

Do you have a 5spd? If you currently have the factory 14b turbo, the 16g will bolt right up to your factory parts. That's one of the reason's it's a good choice. The 450's will do at your current boost level. You will have to upgrade to larger injectors and fuel pump as well and get your car tuned if you want to get the most out of the 16g.

im running an evo 3 16g right now and im thinkin about upgrading myself...im going to go with the garrett gt4508r good from 500-1100 hp, ball bearing, oil and water cooled, 81.62 wheel inducer diameter, 108mm wheel exducer diameter, .56 trim, a/r:0.69, and free floating turbine.....seems like a good thing to upgrade to but im gonna redo my whole setup and upgrade from my rc 650s to percision 1000s

Hope you're ready to make about 2000 rpms of useable power with that setup. You're not looking at full boost until 5k+.

well the bc stroker kit is gonna come into play as well
You're still taking about using a turbo that is larger than what John Shepherd was previously using on his 7-second race car on your street car. I think this a ridiculous idea given the amount of excellent turbo choices that you'll be bypassing to get to that monster, but it's your money....spend it however you want. Just don't be shocked when the car is practically undriveable.

idk i like my turbo yea granted it takes a while to spool but after it does its all fun and games from there and messes up some cobras and what not.

I agree that extra 6 psi will put a smile on your face for a period of time. Although it will be short because we all know how addicting boost is. But I think raise it up a few psi then jump into a 16g, Id go right with the Evo3, throw some evo injectors in it(evo fuel pump would be a good idea also)and get yourself a wideband and safc and you will have a real good time.

true boost is very addicting i about pee myself each time i put her on 20lbs but for dd its on 10 still kinda fast. enough to make the gf smile anyways. I need to introduce her to cyclones soon:D

I think thats what I have to start doing. Setting the level down when I drive around 13-14 then turn it up to my usual 27. This way I will be happy with the car longer instead of trying to change the setup on it all the time. It will be alittle easier on parts too haha.

yea but i use to much gas on 10lbs cause my safc is tuned for the 20

Alright if I can just crank the boost up a bit on the stock, I'll just see what that does. How exactly would you do it? just ifashion in a manual boost controller? Like I said, I'm pretty new in the turbo world but have been working on vehicles for years and mechanics is almost second nature. When we get into boost controllers and widebands and that sorta stuff, I get lost. So anyways, how would I crank the boost up to 18 on my bone stock setup?

easy enough then. I surely can handle that. Now this isnt "bad" for the motor is it? I mean my car has 148k on it but the timing belt was just done about 5k ago. I regularly maintain it and take care of it like it should be taken care of. I just dont wanna crank up the boost and blow something. Also it just started surging when it idles. Thats the IAC or TPS right?

On the stock 14b you'll be just fine running a few more psi.
Might be your IAC, TPS will only cause the car to jump into acceleration and not respond right when throttle is increased.

I'll look into it more but it sounds like the IAC to me. Im also gunna order a manual boost controller and boost guage and see what I can do.

Yeah but it'll be 2K of madness =P

I vote E316G, handles anything you throw at it, if you start pushing more HP then the 16G can handle, you don't really have a street usable car anymore.
