I recently put my 96 Eagle Talon in the shop and the guy that was working on it for me talked me into letting him turbo it...i mean i was gonna do it but not anytime soon. But i'm glad to be getting it done....But now ever since my friends found out im getting it turbo'd they have been giving me crap about your gonna blow your engine your turbo is way to big. The guy turboing it is a certified mechanic to do this kind of stuff...but now with everyone telling me i'm gonna blow my engine its getting to me and i'm scared there right...I was hoping someone could help me with this and possibly calm my nerves. LOL heres the specs on the turbo please help...i will greatly appreciate it.

Compressor Specs:
-Ported Shroud (anti surge) T04S compressor housing 4" inlet 2.5" outlet
-CNC machined billet 58mm compressor wheel rated at 605hp

Turbine Specs:
-T31 4 bolt outlet turbine housing available in .63 and .82 A/R
-57mm turbine wheel
Precision bearing housings are all non water-cooled with 1/8"NPT oil inlet and the drain is the standard T3-T4 with M8 threads. Lines and fittings are all available here. Flanges and gaskets are available here.

Any advice you can give me will be appreciated. :D

I would agree with your friends. You are missing some info but on stock internals you NEED a small turbo.

Yea, plus if the engine is old your probably most likely going to blow it up.

Usually you always want to get forged pistons and bigger fuel injectors first.

well, the engine was rebuilt a year or two ago...and it runs strong...But i keep telling the mechanic i'm scared its gonna blow it and he keeps telling me the people im listening to don't know what there talking about...and going on and on about how it will be fine...but i dont have the money to put a new engine in my car...and i don't know what to do...cause i don't want him to put it together and then i get it back and it blow up on me..i've put to much money into this car to lose it to some dumbass mechanic...what do ya'll recommend.

Just get a smaller turbo. They're fairly cheap. I'm boosting 7 on a motor with 165,xxx on the clock with no issues. Is your mechanic doing a basic fmu stock injector setup? What about a fcd?

My advice- don't do it. From the sounds of it this mechanic is just taking your money. How much is he charging you to do this? What other mods are being installed to support it? This guy sounds like he's just trying to make a buck and not really trying to help you. Do it yourself later on down the road so you know it's done the way YOU want it, not the way this mechanic sees fit. I know plenty of certified "mechanics" and I'd say 85% of them know less than I do and I only took a highschool automotive class. Most of the one's I know are true dumbasses.

well i paid 1500 for the turbo....another couple hundred on the BOV and Wastegate....and since i had him put my clutch and a full exhaust...im paying him 3800....and i have already paid him...all except 300...but hes had my car for 2 months. Everytime i bring up i need it back or when is it gonna be done he says he doesn't know...and when i tell him people say its not gonna work and im kinda believing them over him...he tells me there wrong hes done more than a few of these turbos and they've always worked...for him. I brought up switching the fuel injectors...with bigger ones...and he said it didn't need to be done....i asked about switching the pistons and he said no it would be fine the way it is...and everything....And i've never heard him say anything about doing anything to my stock injectors....or a fcd?

You can run stock injectors as long as you have a 12:1 fmu. You need a Fuel Cut Defender. You can get a t3/t4 hybrid for around 500 on the high end. Id hate to say it but you are over paying. I built my entire setup for what you paid for your turbo alone. What are you using for intercooler?

Turbo someones car, let them blow it up, blame them for driving it too hard, and make more money putting in a new engine. Sounds like a foolproof plan to me.

It's not that the turbo necessarily too big for your engine- it's just that you'll need to run a decent amount of boost in order to make such a large turbo worth having....at which point you will be shattering pistons and bending connecting rods if you're running the stock internals.

Pick something around the size of a T3 60-trim and run no more than 10psi. You'll be rewarded with about 1500rpms of additional streetable power that the turbo he's trying to sell you will never generate because it's too large.

Thanks ya'll for your advice...i plan to go over there on monday and talk to him about it all and see what we can do to fix this...i wanted to put 4g63 fuel injectors in it....cause i was told there a little bigger than 420A injectors....But i'll let ya'll know what happens.

He's gonna put it on his dyno machine to tune it. and does anyone know where i can find a carbon fiber fuel door? i've been looking and all i can find is stick ons....and i want the real one....and i don't want a different car LOL...i put to much money in this car to just give up on it LOL..although i would love to have a 4g63 awd turbo. LOL...

I wouldn't run over 5 or 6 psi with that large of a turbo. Find out what FMU, tuner, FCD, fuel pump with part number. I STRONGLY recommend you get a smaller turbo, that one will lag, push your motor, and I would hate to see you compressor surge.

you can find the carbon fiber gas door on ebay from time to time for like 20-30 bux you can pretty much build an entire interior and as for the outside they make everything but quarters roof and side skirts i live by dreammakers kustoms and they built one it was pretty cool looking i dont want to know what it cost the

Well, I got an IM on Facebook from my Mechanic telling me the downpipe and gauges and everything had been installed on my car and that he wanted me to come look at them (for some odd reason). I told him i'd be over in a day or two....SO today i go over there expecting to see my turbo setup complete- and my gauges all done nicely. ROFL

The "Mechanic" was at his house with his girlfriend while his "employees" were inside the shop talking on there cellphones to their girlfriends....and no one said a damn word to me. My car is sitting outside the garage with no bumper or headlights- the hood's unlatched and my doors unlocked for anyone to go in.

Then the "mechanic's" dad comes up to me and asked me if i was being helped- I told him I was waiting on the "Mechanic" cause he wanted to show me all this stuff...well I waited 20 minutes and he doesn't show. His dad goes over there to get him and he doesn't come to the door for like 10 minutes then he comes to the door barefooted in a pair of shorts and hes buttoning up his shirt....so we know what he was doing instead of working.

Bottom line...I'm wondering if I should go get my car tomorrow and have it towed to my house so the work will get done finally and i can have my car back 'cause this is getting nuts. Three months of having my car and its still not freaking done?

He also popped my back tire, scraped my newly painted bumper, and left my windows down so my whole interior is filled with dirt and dust...and outside of the car has like 5 inches of dirt sitting on it.

So what do you think i should do? Better yet- what would you do?

If I went to look at my car and had the same situation happen to me, the car would already be back in my driveway/garage. I would have towed it out of there immediately and gotten the shop to pay for the tow. That is downright unacceptable and unprofessional. I would also be trying to get them to pay for a bumper paint touch up and new tire if at all possible.

I asked about the tire later..and he said it was dry rotted...how the f**k does a brand new tire dry rot? when it has no cracks or anything on it.....at all....and yeah i been wanting to get it for a while i just been giving him the benefit of the doubt..cause for a little it seemed he was actually working but now after 3 months and what happened today im fed up...his "Shop" is suppose to be the best shop around here for DSM's so thats why i took it there.

Get your car back to your house finish it get a smaller turbo and then sue the shop for damages and if your car blows up once you get it running get a new motor out of them. I work in a shop where your going dosen't sound like the shop i work in.
