so i bought a td05 rebuild kit and the new bearings dont fit... the old one slides right on no problem but the new one doesnt go on even if i try to force it (hands only no tools) should i just reuse the old one or what should i do...

for those who dont know what im talking about... the exhaust turbine bearing... the new one wont fit even close... the old one is noticeably bigger... any ideas? thanx in advance guys

hey scratch that i have a few more problems, neither bearing lines up and the rebuild tech on here is missing a few things i gotta talk to the guy i bought the kit off of, if anyone knows any of these problems please post im gonna check it first thing in the morning at work

Did you buy an actual MHI rebuild kit?
Do the bearings fit into the cartridge housing and just not the turbine?

it might be wiseman, i bought the car not running with "a 16g turbo" and the bearings fit insid but they dont fit on the shaft. the only reason for the rebuild is because it was leaking oil and it had some shaft play in and out. I just used the old bearings and used the rest of the rebuild kit, I'm only keeping it until i find a good price for a 20g so i just need it to last a few months. (btw i did a full engine rebuild first got it running and it started to smoke when i got on it) I'll let you guys know how it turns out.

If your 16G had an adjustable wastegate actuator, it's not Genuine....therefore the parts kit you bought will not fit. You need Garrett T3 journal bearings and turbine seal if you want a complete rebuild.

You really should change the turbine seal if the turbo had in/out play. The seal stays fixed in the housing, so the shaft will move in and out inside the seal, wearing the seal away to nothing in a very short time.

It takes 2 rebuild kits to rebuild one of these, a garrett t3, and a mitsu td05. Before it's all said and done you have almost as much money in rebuilding one as the cost of a new knock off. I would suggest buying a 14b and installing your rebuild kit to cut your losses. Even a new knock off 16g can't be expected to last very long, they have a well deserved reputation for failing quickly on a dsm.
