Looking at the pte57 trims that dejontool has up on there site and I noticed they have them in ball bearings as well. Is it worth the extra cash? Is there a hp difference and quarter mile differance? Kind of on a budget at the moment so if there is no night and day differance I might go with the standard journal bearings. Thanks guys.

The only difference you will see is spool up time. With the ball bearing chra you will see full boost somewhere around 300-500 rpm's sooner than with a standard journal bearing. There will be no horsepower difference between the two.

The transient response on a BB turbo is much better also. You might not see more power, but will see a smooter power curve. I have "heard" BB turbos last longer also. Although I have not had one long enough to judge for myself.

also another diffrence between bb and journal is the shape and angles of the inducer and exducer that make one of the biggest diffrences in the center cartridge, it is not talked about as much since most people are not as familiar since they are a newer technology and most people dont build them for a living.

I was unaware there were differences in the wheels themselves. If you would enlighten me a little more, if you have time either on here or by PM that would be appreciated.

To O/P the Journal bearing will do just fine for drag racing on a budget, however without the use of NLTS the BB units will recover faster from each shift. On that turbo it might be small enough to make the difference negligible.

Are you trying to say that ball bearing turbos have different wheels than the same turbo in non-ball bearing?

yes, i know a guy that designs some of the turbos and works closely with borg warner, I'll get some more info on that asap and post up, thats also the major reason why ball-bearing center sections spool quicker.

Im not an expert but he is, he is pretty busy so i'll try and get a hold of him in the next few days
