I am thinking of taking my car back to open class, so I can get away from the stock turbo, and generate some HP, but here is the problem.
Rally cars are restricted by class to 34mm(open) or 32mm(production) diameter restrictors placed within 5 cm of the turbo inlet. This restrictor must be 1cm wide, and parallel to the airstream.
Obviously, this really screws up your mapping at higher RPMs, as there is no air, really none at all, but it keeps the sport affordable, and the drivers alive!
So, how do I get the most usable spool? My focus seems like it will be spool up and low rpm power, from maybe 3500-6000. This is where I get power now. Any suggestions based on this, KEEPING IN MIND I will have very little use for a giant turbo, unless it spools quick, and generates boost that I can use with this limited intake. No point trying for power at 10000 rpm, its not gonna happen.
I would like to figure out something that might take the beating of rally antilag, so maybe easily rebuildable with ball bearings? But this is really not a priority.
