Changing the turbo inlet location

Im doing a turbo install on a 420a. The turbo inlet where the i/c piping starts was pointing up which gave me some hood clearances problems. I saw that the turbo inlet housing had 6 bolts. i took them off and twisted the inlet so it can point to the side instead of straight up. Now im wondering........Ppl have done this right? Its ok to take off the bolts and move the turbo if u are having issues...........?

it's called "clocking" the turbo, and yes its fine.
