Hey guys,
So, I've had my 97 spyder gst since last June, and it has been an absolute blast to drive! Now I've done a whole lot of lurking on this site, and a lot of research in general on how to go about upgrading my car. I had originally wanted to drop the customary e3 16g in when it came time to upgrade, but the price had skyrocketed so badly that I almost couldn't see the sense in paying that sort of money for a 16g. So, I fell back on the choice of the fp big28, as I live in the Appalachian mountains, and im trying to keep spool low as there are few straights and maaaany curves, and all was going well wish list wise. Now for my question, I've recently come upon a vendor here in the classifieds offering the new rebuilt e3 16g for 550, and also recently found out my older cousin has a big28 with a broken compressor wheel/ generally needing a rebuild. Now my plans are for about 350 hp until I can find a donor for the awd swap, as anything above that I'm going to spend most of my time spinning tires, so which of these two turbos and their corresponding setups would suit my needs best? I don't track the car, but I drive these mountains hard, and there is aloooot of heavy acceleration and heavy braking, so I guess what I'm asking is would it be worth my time and effort (and cash) to get the big28 from my ###, or hit the e3 16g from the vendor? Any input would be great here!
