Turbo Boost Creep Creeping T25 14B 16G [Merged]

Or you can use Mr peepers MWGA mod to completely eliminate creep even when you up the boost. WHich btw, ive been trying to get a hold of you Mr. Peepers, clear your pm box.

It won't always eliminate boost creep, but it will help if that was the major cause for creep in the setup. Upping the boost will actually mask the problem as well. PM has been replied to.

I've been wanting to put turbo back exhaust on my car from day one. I seen the guy I got it from last night and exhaust got brought up, he said the cat on it is welded in:toobad: So, I was going to go catless I was thinking 3 inch turbo back but research shows alot of boost creep threads :hmm: I want to try my best to avoid having to do port work, and/or boost creep. I have a 1g with a 90 galant vr4 engine in it. Any suggestions on which way I should go with my exhaust? worst comes to worst I'll only put cat back on it to avoid the creep.

Also, I was thinking stock tip on the exhaust idk if that'll be enough pressure to fight off the boost creep with it being catless and 3inch turbo back :banghead:

Boost creep is a result of the exhaust gases that are trying to be bypassed around the turbine instead of through it being restricted somewhere, whether it be in the o2 housing or exhaust. The pressure from the exhaust gases then goes through the turbine effectively building more boost. Enter the External Dump:hellyeah:

I have a full apexi exhaust system 3inch n ends at 4. I have no problem with boost creep. I would get a external wastegate for that boost creep.

From what I seen the boost creep stops around 20 in most cases not all. What if I just got supporting mods and ran 20 psi? :hellyeah:

That helped alot thanks man. On the subject what's the max boost you want to run on the stock smic?

if you a 1g front wheel i got a brand new thermal research and development cat back with less than 200 mile on it i want 400 shipped

Yea dont worry about maxing the Boost on the SMIC yet until you have the support mods for your turbo. Just go up top and click on Search, than Search forms and you should find out lots of information without having to really post anything. Im glad I was able to help you.

Why don't you want to do port work? You're basically getting a better flowing exhaust and boost control for the price of a die grinder and a couple beads of sweat. Don't sap your power by putting the cat or stock muffler/tip back on, there's no point in getting a 3" exhaust if you do that.

You can do port work and solve the problem, or buy more mods to support the creep.

I'd recommend either supporting mods for 20+psi or an external gate. If you can't afford to do those yet, I don't see anything wrong with putting a restriction in your exhaust as long as it's cheap. Then when you can afford to deal with the creep, remove the restriction. If you port the turbine housing to open up the wastegate, that can disrupt the exhaust gas flow past it (when it's closed) while you're spooling the turbo.

There are certainly other options for dealing with creep as well. The "Peepers Mod" is a PITA unless you have all the tools, but it lets the flapper open up far more than stock. Also, gasket-matched porting the turbine housing to the O2 housing and porting the O2 housing will improve WG flow.

I say toss the exhaust on and see what happens. Then deal with problems.

Had nasty boost creep on my old 91 AWD, full megan racing exhaust, recirculated tubular o2, sbr cast manny, and ported evo III 16g.... crept up to 28 psi by redline....not sure if my cams and smim had anything to do with it either....

Needless to say it fried my rings...

Ok, couple things...i got this XS power O2 housing off ebay about a year ago, i still haven't installed it as im waiting for some other mods...Im getting an EVO III big16, i will have 3" exhaust as well...From what i read, i should be getting boost creeo bc of all the free flowing exhaust...porting the turbo helps but i also read that it makes it harder for the turbo to hold high amounts of PSI at the higher RPMs..is this true? ALSO, as u can see from my pics and vid, the flange inside the O2 housing is raised and its not a smooth flow as you can see...should i be trying to grind that down and make it smooth?? Besides porting out the turbo, what else can cure creep (a bigger flapper?)... ALSO, i've read posts where people actually want as much boost creep as possible..wuts up with that?

Heres the Video link: YouTube - XS power O2 housing...port?

You can grind it but it shouldn't have much of an effect if any on creep

What I'm saying is grinding it will have little to no effect on boost creep.

Yes, it should help flow, but whether you notice a gain or not is highly dependent on your setup. And for the most part, your "butt dyno" won't feel an increase.

def. not upgrading the flapper. im want to run high boost on this, so maybe, ill just do a mild mild porting job perhaps...

From what i have read/researched. Since im wanting to max out the potential of the turbo and will be running higher PSI...i will actually want boost creep and i will have less regardless with the high psi :rocks: thanks anyways

I now have a 1990 talon tsi. i bought it with the big 16g turbo and a fmic and 3'' downpipe and 3'' apexi all the way back. the car has a mbc and is set at 14 psi and boost strong untill 4-5k rpms and then hits the fuel cut. after reading all about fuel cut and boost creep my question is without having to upgrade the entire fuel system or having to put on a external wastegate, how can i stop this boost creep from happening and have no more fuel cut?

For the fuel cut problem, you are running short of fuel obviously and your motor is cutting it to be on the safe side and not blow up. I didn't see you mentioned you had any upgraded fuel pump, fuel injectors, or anything to tune with.
My advice to you is you get at least a set of 650cc's, a walbro 190 or 255 fuel pump with afpr, and an apexi safc or safc2 and tune it, this alone should take care of the fuel cut dept.
As for boost creep, i suggest you run an external wastegate or an externally dumped o2 housing.
