I am looking for a 3" turbo back exhuast for my 97 gst. I have only found the VRS on slowboyracing.com. As ive read there is an apexi n1 system. I have seen the n1 catback but cant find the full turbo back with no cat. Is there any other systems out there. I would also like to kno if any of these systems mount to my stock turbo. I am planning on running a 20g in the future and would like to have the same exhuast and not pay more for a new one. So please help me out. :dsm:

I wouldn't recommend the apexi n1 down pipe due to it's flow restrictions. You could buy the megan racing dp for 113 shipped? The gsx pipe has fitment issues but i have yet to hear a problem with the gst fitments, everyone with a gst says it fits perfectly from what i've read. http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1596077#post1596077 you can see the difference between the n1 and the megan....just my 2 cents, Brandon [VFRacing]

If you have a local speed shop they can custom build one for around $500-$800. The price depends on if you are using ss or aluminized steel. (I went with ss.) I have one and I can tell you that it is an incredible sound. A flange was put on my exhaust housing and it is nothing but 3" from the turbo to the tailpipe.

Definately better than anything that I could have purchase of the shelf.

just remember, you want a flex section.

I am running 3in 02 eliminator from Hahn Race Craft, teamed with a Thermal R&D catback, and car sound cat, its pricey, but all work together really well, and sound great.

There was a clearence issue with the DP and oil filter but was solved by using an OEM filter off a US 03 EVO.

I second this. I had a 3" Turboback exhaust fabbed up at a local speed shop for about $650, stainless steel. I get compliments all the time, its not real loud but its super deep, and thats with the stock turbo. I have no cat and a Magnaflow muffler, great investment.

thanks.. but i am still yet to hear anything good about the vrs.. everyone runs the n1 and im looking for somthing diff.

Then get the Epelir cat back exhaust system with an RRE downpipe....

*edit*
Curiosity, where is Manteno??

what is so bad about VRS? cuz i have honestly never heard anything bad.

and espically if you are just picking up prebent tube. you can't really go wrong unless the person who weld and hangs it sucks ass.

otherwise, thermal r&d might be something to look at. i don't know if they have a turboback, but you could get the thermal catback, and pick up a downpipe from RRE or RNR or buschur.

but i maintain you should just buy the tube or custom it. that way you also get to choose your muffler.

does anyone kno a good sight that sells thermal r&d and rre downpipes..? if i cant figure somthing out im just gonna go for the vrs and get what i get...

zmann.. manteno is a few miles away from kankakee

I wouldnt recommend buschurs exhaust or dp. Those flex sections dont usually last more than a year and a half, (went through one myself) and I'd take Thermals cat-back which uses all the stock hangers and fits like a gem in comparison to the Buschur which fits decently and uses half the hangers.

I love my Thermal, had it since 2001 and still get regular compliments on it.

We have our new version 2 system that we have just released for the 1G & 2g AWD DSM's. This is a brand new style system that is guaranteed to fit and perform perfectly.

The new thing about RnR is that we now have these systems in stock. We ship all exhaust and turbo backs out the same day.

So the old days of having to wait 4-6 weeks is over. If we don't have it in stock we won't sell it to you. This is all part of our new business plan.

You've heard a problem now.

Fitment was very good, but it didn't line up perfectly with my catback. It took quite a bit of muscling to get it lined up.

That said, unbeatable for the price...Megan downpipe + Tsudo n1 catback is quite good. Sounds better than the apex'i n1, it has a slightly deeper tone.

It's loud as all getup though.

Thermal and HKS cat backs sound and fit great. There aren't that many full turbobacks for DSM's available. You usually have to piece them together.

I'm going to get one built sometime in the future. Full 3" Turbo-back w/ no resonators and no neck-downs, with these dual-tips. Maybe even a VRS ported o2 housing w/ dump.

Checkout RnR-

http://www.rnrracing.com/cgi-bin/cc...7.161.66.38&pg=cat&ref=fwdtbe&catstr=HOME:DSM

Or if you want to save a little money you can try Megan or Tsudo, they both make a N1 style catback system (I believe with neckdowns and resonators). They also have downpipes but they neckdown as well from what I've heard.

Check out ExtremePSI. They have the N1 Catback and N1 downpipe as a combo kit for $699 with free shipping!

This is the setup I've had for over two years. Great price, great fit, appears(only because I've not tried any other exhaust with my current setup) to go great with my other mods(that apply of course)and what I like the most is that it sounds good, nice smooth tone, not that ear-piercing BWAHHHHH crap.

i bought my 3in megan downpipe for $112 shipped... Haven't installed it yet, tryed, wouldnt fit. needs custom catback. Meitkee muffler shop quoted me $150 + tax for 3in catback if i supply the muffler. so with a $60 megan racing 3in inlet an 4in outlet muffler it will cost about $320-$340 for a 3in turbo back. not to shabby

I ordered from VRS adn got my 3" mandrel piping kit 2 days later.
iwas so very impressed.

i already had a 3" muffler so i took the pipes up to a local olymco and they fixed me right up for 75 bucks.

the fittament was perfect. and the price was unreal.

no doubt if you get one of their turbo back kits, you will get more than your money's worth, quick shipping, and an easy install.

i don't think its worth the extra cash to get it in stainless, on account of aluminzed lasting for years, and since your turbo charger keeps the exhaust so hot, water rusting out the insides won't be an issue.

:thumb:

if you aren't pleased with the sound(mine sounds fantastic)
just add a resonator

DAMNG, VRS Turbo Back Sounds Frikkin' Good Really Good I got A SS 3 turbo back, It did fit perfect, and Looks Good

I have a VRS 2.5 inch turboback for my gsx, although right now i have an Apexi gt downpipe and HKS catback im taking it off and putting my VRS back on since ive heard about the HKS exhausts having poor flow and same with apexi downpipes. When i had the VRS on before it sounded so mean, i love the sound of it and would reccomend it.
