Everywhere,
West Virginia
Well I work for Advance auto parts, and a few months ago, someone came in and returned a 3in mandrel bent dynomax catback for a suburban, because it was defective (the muffler had a hole in it). As i was looking at it, i noticed that it had alot of the bends i would need to make my exhaust, so i took it out to the dumpster, and call a Friend to have him pick it up for me.
It had the first few bends of my downpipe, a 90*, and the part to go around the rear suspension and up the the muffler. So i still needed one 90* bend, the first bend for the downpipe, the flange, resonator, flexsection, an adapter, and a new 3in inlet muffler.
I ordered a 3in mandrel U bend, and the 2.5in to 3in adapter, through advance. Not many people know that you can, I didn't until i found it in the dynomax book. There was no shipping and it was there the next day. So if your in a bind, and need a bend the next day and have no money for shipping, get it though advance, and don't let them tell you that they cant because they can. The flexsection, i bought from one of the advance commercial accounts that deal with exhaust, it is top quality, not only is it braided on the outside, but inside it is too.
The flange, first bend of the downpipe, and the resonator, i bought from RRE. I found the muffler on ebay.
I still have to weld it all up, on my next day off, but I'm sure that it will turn out great. I cant wait to hear it.
1. suburban 3in catback (free)
2. 3in mandrel U bend (18.00)
3. 2.5 to 3in adapter (8.00)
4. 2.5 flex section (32.00)
5. SS 2.5 first downpipe bend (30.00)
6. 2.5in downpipe flange (8.00)
7. 3in resonator (22.00)
8. 3in inlet muffler (55.00)
Total. (173.00) Spending less than $200, instead of $700, and the experience of making your own exhaust. (priceless)

i paid $300 for all of my piping, which is all stainless steel mendrel bent piping, full 3 inch down pipe and the full greddy cat back system. It pays to be great friends with the owner of a top muffler shop in northeastern florida plus have the benefit of him doing an insurance claim on a GST convertibles exhaust and salvaging it for me.
