i am new to tuning and know very little about it. what is the cheapest way i can tune my car. i know i need some sort of data logger or ecu link of some sort. but is there a way i can just wire a cable up to my ecu and pc and view all my values and adjust them as needed or no. because i found a data logger cable with CD but as far i know thats just for logging not to change any values. but can i buy that and a safc and be good to go. or is that a hard route to go down with a beginer

First why do you think you need a tune?
What mods do you have?

What are you looking to do? How much control of the ECU do you want? You can give from an safc that changes air flow values to a full standalone that has control of everything.

let me think about this. I bought the car the engine blew so i did a complete rebuild from top to bottom, the head is stock with arp. evo3 16 g turbo and mani, oversized front mount IC, aeromotive fpr, ngk plugs, COP, not sure what injectors are in it or fuel pump, eagle rods and piston, 3" exhaust all the way back with high flow cat and muffler, 90' ofh. Thats all i can think of right now engine related. the only gauges it has is a boost and narrow band. I just want to know what i need to tune because i go thru gas like crazy and dont have as much power as i was expecting. i can drive 20 miles to my inlaws house and go thru 1/4 to 1/2 a tank

All of that into the motor, and you don't even have a logger? (Kind of makes me wonder why "the engine blew".

Go with ECMLink and call it a day. No sense investing all that time and effort into the car and then short-changing your self on a weak tuning system.

when i bought the car the shortblock alone was origional with 300,000+ miles on it

if i bought a safc for 75$ and a logging cable and cd would i be able to the tuning that i need
