i was wondering what tuning software would be cheap and effective,
heres a list of mods-
4g63
type s g reddy BOV, g reddyWastegate, g reddyb huge intercooler
660 injectors, plan on upgrading my fuel pump
i was plannin on buying a lap top for this software and dont mind to keep it in the car all the time, any suggestions thanks!

As far as I understand, you can't just buy tuning software and expect to tune a car. You first need to buy the hardware to tune. For example, you would buy a greddy emanage, and the software that goes with it. Or you would buy a DSMLink and use the software that it comes with.

Or you could buy an apexi afc. I don't think the afc requires any computer software at all.

Apexi SAFC does not require computer. Tapping into some wires in the ECU and there you go. Just adjusting what your ecu see from MAF. As far as some thing like Greddy Emanage, too expesive IMO. It is a stand alone unit. If you have or can get a hold of an Eprom ecu, I would go for DSMlink. Best way to go IMO. Save your money and go that route.

you dont need the SAFC if you got the DSM-link.I would go for the cheaper faster option, which is DSM link.E-manage,you have to tune everything first before you can drive the car. Or you have to download a basic map for the stock 2G setup.

thanks for all the replies!
im almost postive its a stock turbo,
i plan on upgrading down the road thou im just takin these steps firstbc thats ### ive been told
but what exactly is an eprom ecu?
and i was plannin on goin the route of a dsmlink from my research

I would definitely go with DSMlink as it is really powerful and not too pricey. It will be fine for you when you decide to make more and more power. Its really versatile.
ECMTuning, Inc.

Usually they come in the 95 eclipse gst/gsx and if you pull out your ecu there is a uppercase E at the bottom right hand corner that states that you have an eprom ecu. Means you can socket the ecu to have DSMlink installed into your ecu. Basically able to log whats going on in your car and make adustments to fuel trims timing. Also, you running those 660's in your car right now with a T-25?? How is your car running with them in it. I would think you are running too much fuel for that turbo. Also, without at least an AFC to compensate the Air flow I would put the 450's back in. Just to be on the safe side until you upgrade

I would suggest Eprom ecm with Ostrich emulator and free software from Tunner pro all for less than $200, but it sounds like you should start off slow with SAFC.
Also do your self a favor and get a logging cable to log with TMO or Evoscan software (a must for tunning).

Def get DSMLink/ECMLink you will eventually need it down the road so might as well spend the money and get it over with and it is an awsome tool.

for what you got and don't plan on building up then just get sell your laptop and get an SAFC. might want to upgrade your power wire to fuel pump and get a FPR, so you can have a better advantage of manipulating your fuel trim. make sure to get a wideband also.

You can get a SAFC/Chip combo, dsmlink, jackal, or aem. It all depends wha is you goal and how much are you willing to spend.

He has a 96 2nd gen, which means he cannot run jackal at all and can't run link without a 95 ECU.

The very cheape is to use an AFC. You won't be able to control ignition timing, but there are quite a few cars hauling with just an AFC and tweaks to it.

Next cheapest, a flashable ECU with ceddymod. http://ceddy.us/ Get the cable, do some flashing, away you go.

Next cheapest, a 95 ecu with a chip you've burnt yourself. After that, a keydiver chip (keydiver and AFC makes a powerful combo, not as good as flashable ecu or link, but you can push your car really hard with that setup)

Finally, 95 ecu with link. Lots of people consider this the best option, but price to performance, I would go with the flashable ecu, just because I'm very broke. It will probably do things the flashable ecu won't, but you may not ever need them.

the best thing to do is just get a chip made. theyre cheap, and very simple, just tell them what you have and then pop it in. problem solved. I got mine from key diver. great in everyway
