Hi guys!

hopefully this is something that someone can have some insight on. I was going to post in the engine management and tuning however don't have the post count to do so.

I bought a project talon after being out of the scene for 10 or so years. long story short I have the car back together with the supplied engine. it came installed and was told it was good/recently rebuilt. I have bosch 1600cc injectors and a turbonetics 60-1 with all supporting modifications including dsmlink v3. currently set up with standard injector settings with -72%, 450us...

I am just cranking with no avail. however I am getting spark and fuel. I loosed the CAS and turned it clock wise (front bolt in top of window) and it seemed in a better direction. I would get some type of studder or combustion but nothing too promising.

by turning the CAS down or forward does that advance the base timing or retard? is this normally an indicative sign to a common problem?

I will be adjust deadtime and injector scaling tomorrow as well...

thanks if you guys take the time to read and help!

the cas was already installed on the car with white out markings so I assumed it was set. that is something I will look in to.

If I remember correctly (did this last week), clockwise advances timing. However, this really shouldn't come into play until you get the car started. I wouldn't think this would hinder you from starting. You may want to consider doing a compression test. Maybe something goofed up and you have bent valves? Also, you should consider verifying base mechanical timing by taking the timing cover off and checking your timing marks. Sometimes you can't trust what's been done before and it's always good to verify as much as possible about your car so you can make the most informed decisions.

not to sound ignorant, but my cas has a female plug on it to where if I flipped it - it would be point down towards the transmission/intake manifold. am I assuming that this wouldn't be the case?

The CAS unit itself should be bolted on as stated, but CAS flipped 180 degrees means something different. When you install the CAS it has a rotatable key that fits into the end of the camshaft. If you don't pay attention to cam dowel pin orientation(facing up) when installing this key into cam(mark on CAS key pointing to the front bumper) you have the opportunity to install it backwards and the term for doing this is CAS flipped 180 or something of the sort.

I have a better understanding now. the interior key of the CAS is what could be off; not the actual mounting of the sensor...
