Well, after almost two years, I finally had the cash together and got my first DSM. It is a '93 Eagle Talon TSi, FWD, and I love it. The only major problem is an exhaust leak right underneath the manifold, and all that does it make lots and lots of noise :D

It is a 5spd, and this is my first manual car, and I had some fun learning today with my g/f in the car(heh chirped 'em in second accidentally, but, it was soooo cool)

Man, I can't stop talking about my car, my family wants to kill me. I can't wait to get the routine maintence/titling/lisence plate outta the way and start some modifications!

I swear, I musta re-parked it about 5 times already heh...

Yeah, by the way, I paid for it with my own hard-earned cash..:thumb:

hell yeah i am enjoying it...i just went out and showed my brother, and the admiration, even from him, makes it ten times more worthwhile

although, i dont know how the neighbors liked me revving it at 11 o clock...heh...

i have been browsing these forums for quite awhile now, but, never really posted too much. but you can count on seeing quite a bit of me from now on! heh

haha awsome. i remember when i first got mine. it is a 5 speed too, i must have taken it around my block about 50 times the first 3 days i had it. it was cool, mines a gs though so its probably not as fast as yours. mine only cost 3000 though. how much was yours.

Sounds good. I was and still am crazy about my DSM. Just take it easy on the onld gal, dont beat the shyt out of her on a regualr basis, do all your maintainance, take care of her, and shell do the same :thumb:

Congratulations on your first dsm, i just bought my first dsm as well, on saturday, but i havent been able to enjoy mine yet, cuz the engine is gone, but i'm still looking forward to the day i get mine up and running :D ....have fun with the new ride

You know, we usually call that the Turbo .:thumb:

;) Just playin with ya. Welcome, and good luck with that whole learn-to-shift thing. As for the whole "talking about my car" bit, that doesn't stop, so your family and friends will just have to learn to get used to it :dsm:

Dude, I feel your pride, just got my 98 GSX last nite. Cruised it around Aurora/Denver for the better part of 2 hours. Had more driving it than my 2000 Trans AM.

Hey guys, thanks for the welcome, and I already have a question...

I took it out for a practice drive today with my friend, and he tested it out, did some launches and what-not, nothing too crazy, but when we got back and parked it, we noticed this greenish fluid leaking onto my driveway. It looks like coolant, and I am pretty sure it is, but my question is, could this be a hose? or is it probably the head gasket...god, i hope it's not the head gasket. There wasnt a large amount, maybe about a dinner plate sized puddle, and it didnt leak before this. It was also insanely hot today(about 90). I am planning on taking it to the mechanic tomorrow and have them tell me what it is, and then i can replace it.

by the way, lenz, i paid 2800

Ah, I'll go check the coolant level right now. Just got back from work, but that is probably the reason, as he probably filled it right before i bought it.

Yeah, I talked him down to 2800 because of the manifold leak, he wanted 3, and was sorta desperate to get rid of the car.

I am eighteen, and this is my first car. I love it. Thanks for all the support....

As yet another plods off to the place where DSMs go to die.

Well, enjoy it while it runs. And don't feel bad, there's always lots of other things to do in July that you can ride the bus to.

i feel ya on that one, nothing against him,but.. its almost everyone i know that gets a fast car, they take it out and beat the shite out of it until something major breaks,fails,etc.. its a shame.

First of all, I am not some newbie to cars that doesnt know the first thing about taking car of one and driving properly. I didnt beat the shit out of it, I wanted to see how everything was functioning, and how well the car could perform. I would not drive it like that every day.

Second, I am almost positive that it is external coolant leaking, as I was looking at the hoses last night and they are pretty shaky looking. I plan on buying the replacements within the week and then seeing where I am.

Even if it is the head gasket, me and my friend already replaced the head gasket on his Talon, so, it's not out of the question to do myself. And I eventually will have the cash to have a shop do it. The car is staying...

heh, steamer,

it wasnt our driving that caused any problems, it was leaking before we drove. don't you recall that there was a coolant leak where you had the car parked before we even took it out? im assuming your dad didnt drive to crazy when he brought it home so im guessing "beating the shite out of it" didnt cause whatever failed to fail while we were driving it, it had to have failed prior to us driving it, not that we were driving that hard anyways. changing the head gasket on a 4 cylinder isnt bad anyways.

by the way, this is my first post here. hi

Hey man congrats on the new car, i just got mine dropped off 2 days ago - bought it off ebay.. I had a 91 gs and now i got a 95 gst with a kit and GReddy turbo.. and some other mods. - anyways got the thing and its like an inch and half clearance and couldnt get it in my driveway : D (michigan roads suck haha..) it'll be a couple days till i get it raised but i know the feeling of driving it for the first time and going "oooooooh $hit.. " when the turbo kicks in for the first time.. and i know exactly how it is just talking about it non stop too.. my families heard all my mods in order.. i duno how many times haha..

I hope it's not your radiator... right before i bought my friends the radiator cracked on top... had about a 2" crack that once the car got hot it would boil out of... replaced it with one from NAPA.. only cost me $143..

and i got my 90 TSI AWD for 1grand... of corse i had to do $800+ worth of work to it myself before i could drive it but hey... whatever

yeah when my dad gave me his 90 talon TSI AWD i just went around all day saying i have a car...it was broken but none the less i loved it i slept with the key that night.

Yeah, it could be a couple different things, but, right now I am leaning towards a faulty hose. I drove it to school today, no leakage when it was parked in the parking lot, no leakage last night after I drove it around my neighborhood for a little, and some minor leakage today when I got home from school. It was another hot one, so...

Right now I am trying to get the goddamn door panel secured, when I get paid, I will replace all hoses/belts/whatnot. I know I am gonna have to put money into this thing, but I didnt buy it for a weekend driver that doesnt have to get worked on. This is my first car, and I am determined to make it a learning experience. Heh.
