hey guys got a few problems after installing some new parts..i installed an evo 3 16g with vrsf fmic. the problem is that when i start my car it idles rough and the factory boost gauge no longer works. i dont know what the problem could be other than maybe boost leak? new plugs and im running factory psi..around 13. also the bov line is "T'd" to go into my manual boost controller, if that has anything to do with problem? i plan on putting a nipple on new j pipe when i get the chance then run the line from there. any suggestions would help..

Sounds like a boost leak. You said the factory boost gauge was working before and now its not...did you unhook anything over my the intake manifold?

For the MBC, what brand do you have? Its probably not hooked up right. It should be a "valve" in the middle of the vacuum line running from your wastegate to the nipple on the J-pipe...no connection to BOV. Run the BOV line straight from the intake manifold.

the previous owner did the t in the bov line and ive read were thats bad but havnt switched it and my j pipe doesn't have a nipple yet so ill have to do later on today or tom..the bov is recirculated and its a hallman pro rx i believe i was just worried about the rough idle ill check for boost leaks today if i have time

Do a good BLT. It sounds like your losing air and probably running rich. And get that MBC hooked up right. I had mine hooked up to the BOV originally back in the day when I didn't know any better. Caused a bunch of inaccuracies and issues. I got a Hallmann that is hooked up right, and its very accurate.

But if he's not in boost and just idling surely it might be more then a boost leak! Could he not adjust the isc and bill screw! As he now has a fmic it will flow more air and it don't know that so adjusting them might help! Agreed on the boost gauge take the T from the fpr return if on the stock system! I had some rough idle but not from a new turbo but new intercooler pipes and doing this cured mine! Just try all ways 1 of them will work.

do you have your boost controller hooked to your wastegate like it should be? also heck your bov it couldbe leaking from there possibly.

Seriously bud, you didn't perform a boost leak test after completely messing with your intake system especially after you even saying it could be a leak :nono: Also as said already, the BOV needs it's own dedicated line and so does the wate gate. Nothing should be tapped into either one of those lines. You should be having your BOV recirculated as well if it isn't

I just cannot believe you didn't do a boost leak test before posting, you should know better.

Is your front o2 sensor plugged in as well?

well the real problem was..embarrassed to say it, but the plug that goes into the intake was unplugged and tucked under intake. totally over looked problem and ill be doing a boost leak test tomorrow. its running really good again..pretty happy it wasnt anything serious..

Glad you found the problem. Like said before though, you have to be careful when messing with intercoolers. When I did the 2gb front end on my old 95 gst I had to re-route the piping and one of the couplers popped off while I was taking it for a test drive after. If you still have problems a coupler could be loose or have a hole in it, few things to look for I guess.
