I was replacing my turbo and I got lazy and didn't disconnect my battery. I hit the alternator and caused an arc. Since then my car turns over for a while, about 10 seconds, before starting. Before this happened it would start up instantly.

I've replaced the ALT fuse and that didn't fix it. The alternator is charging and everything seems to work, its just that its turning over for a while before starting. I know I've fixed this very same problem before but I can't remember what I did.

Sorry for the noob questions. Thanks

Just in update, my car is still taking a while to start. I crank it for about 5 seconds and then stop, crank again and it usually fires right up. My fuel pressure always falls to zero even before I can open the hood after turning off the car.

Something else that I have noticed is that I can smell gas whenever I first start doing a boost leak test. Is this normal? I have no leaks by the injectors. I smell it initially and then it goes away.

I'm open to ideas, suggestions. Thanks.

Your thinking too much about this, it could just be coincidence that this happened at the same time, you smell fuel, by turning the key off and on one or more times before it starts sounds to me like to have a leak before the regulator somewere but by priming the system it bumps the pressure up enough to start.
