I haven't been on here in a while because I sold my talon almost two years ago, so I'm a little rusty with DSM's.
I'v been working on a 91 laser n/a for a couple days, the problem seems to be when cold and when at operating temperature.
When the car is cold it will take about 20-30 seconds to actually fire.
It will crank over just fine, it just refuses to fire right up.
When it finally starts to fire up, it only rune for a second or so and then dies.
we seem to have to baby the throttle to get it to stay running, after we get it to run for about 20-30 seconds (running very rough) it will smooth out and seem to run perfect.
The other issue is if it gets driven for 5 minutes or more we have the same issue, only it takes longer to get it to start.
The clutch, timing belt (all other parts in there), water pump, alternator, starter have all been replaced and have maybe 50 miles on them at most.
I have checked and we have spark and fuel, from what I can see all the timing marks line up perfectly on top.
I'm thinking it's gotta be a sensor ..
Any input?

We bought this car two days ago, and there was no knock sensor.
So I found a small bolt that threaded into the hole to plug it for the time being.

- Besides spark and fuel the other thing you need is compression. Have you done a compression test?
- Another thought: Check if correct fuel pressure is being maintained in the fuel rail both engine cranking/running and off. A leaking fpr or bad fp can cause this.

I don't have a compression tester, but I may go buy one later today.
How would I check fuel pressure?
I did not see the usual valve stem on the fuel rail.
I do have an extra fpr in my garage, but it's from a 1.8

Ok we drove it to the part store to get some gear oil.
when we came back out it wouldn't start, it would crank over, but it seemed like we had no spark or fuel.
After waiting another 15 minutes or so, it started.
We drove it back home, pulled in the garage, and turned it off.
We Waited about 30 seconds and it started right up.
After letting it set about ten minutes, we're back at square one, it will not start.
I immediately started to pull the plugs, which are completely dry.
Then I started to take the fuel line off the top of the filter, and we seem to have plenty of pressure there.

I do have that FPR from the 1.8 that I'm tempted to throw on there to see if that makes a difference.
The small vacuum line coming off the FPR is dry.
