^ that and did you recently rebuild it? because similar thing happened to me and i found out that the circlip that holds the compressor housing to the CHRA wasn't on properly so when i boosted it leaked a bunch of air through it.

Check for boost leaks and make sure the wastegate flapper is closed completely and not being held open some.

i havent done a boost leak test yet (dont know how). i have a mbc and it is hookd up to the j pipe and wastegate. i will get into boost at about 5k rpm and hit 11psi right before redline, with my t25 i used to be able to hear my bov at 3k now i can barley hear it at redline. how do i check the wastgate flapper?

You shouldn't hear your bov untill you let off the gas. Do a boost leak test and check that your wastegate flapper is fully closed. Shim it with a washer or two if you need to.

To check that the wastegate flapper is closing all the way, disconnect the actuator arm from the flapper lever. If the wastegate isn't closed all the way (you can move the flapper lever to the left from where the actuator arm was holding it), then you'll need to use washers to shim the wastegete actuator away from the compressor housing of the turbo until it is holding the flapper shut. Also in some cases, cracks in the exhaust housing can get bad enough down through the wastegate hole that the flapper doesn't seal.

Just a word of advise. Anytime you mess with the turbo or ic it's a good idea to do a boost leak test right after. I actually make it a habit to do it about every few months as part of my normal pm's list. Also check and make sure the jpipe area is sealed good and not leaking.

Start with a boost leak test to 20psi with soapy water, fix all of your leaks. After that it would be wise to run some Seafoam through the intake to check for exhaust leaks next.

It will smoke, a lot. Fix any exhaust leaks you have, mainly the downpipe to the manifold.

A pre turbine exhaust leak will cause a massive loss of performance from the turbo.

Alright i finally did a boost leak test and i had a nasty leak at my j pipe so i put some shorter bolts in and now it seals and drives a lot better, but im getting a bad backfire in high 3rd so im gonna put some new plugs in and gap them to .028 and hopefully that will fix it..

I doubt plugs will fix it. Is it a backfire, or more of a popping of raw fuel?

Sounds like an ecu tune with a program like ECMlink will go a long way.

Fwiw, the Talon I have has a 3" exhaust and no cat. It popped and crackled out of the muffler on down shifts and during hard driving. However, after I tuned it with ECMlink, and got things properly tweaked, I don't think it's done it since.
