When I was shifting it into drive my friend and I noticed it was shifting really hard making a clunking sound. Then I drove my g/f to school and it was shifting like sh*t so I brought it home. After a few hours I went to go pick my g/f up I got to the bottom of my hill and wouldn't move like it was in neutral. So I got it towed to my house (I know I had to get it towed 1 block:mad: ). When they where putting it on the flat bed I noticed all my tranny fluid coming out.....A few weeks later after I wasn't so mad at it I decided to put some tranny fluid in it. It drove fine (still shifted hard into drive) for about 2 blocks then it went back to like it was in neutral. I'm just wondering is someone has had a problem like this before and I can fix it or do I have to replace the whole transmission. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
 
i would check to see exactly where it is leaking from. It may be a bad tranney pan gasket. if thats the case it may just be low on fluid. also when and if u change the gasket remember to change the filter.

Well, I'd find the leak first. When you get about 1 or 2 quarts low, the pickup in the pan sucks air and you get a hand full of neutrals.

Now, if that is all that has happened you probably are ok, however if you keep subjecting it to low pressures, you will fry the clutches. Fried clutches are not good and you will then be looking at an overhaul.

While you are fixing this, take the cooler lines off the trans and get some trans flush and flush out the cooler in the radiator. I see this causing more problems than anything as it plugs up and lets the trans overheat. Number one killer of transmissions is overheat.

agreed. reading ## post before anyone's reply was that the tanny fluid was low. went through the same nightmare on my own, then found a small leak, filled the fluid back up fixed the leak and she drove fine afterwards :whew: of course i ended up blowing her up later on anyways, but just to give u piece of mind u might be ok with just making sure she holds the correct amount of fluid, and listen to what old mitsu tech said about the clutched and flushing(solid advice)
