I am having trouble finding an automatic transmisson mount for my 92 talon tsi. I have looked everywhere and all I can find is the 2wd auto mount. I'm not even sure if a prothane insert is available for the auto. I would rather have oem so it doesn't vibrate so much. Anybody know where I can find a mount?

Rockauto.com has them,they are $42.57 Part number#8700

8700 is the wrong part. I believe it is for the 2wd model. I bought the 8700 mount from rockauto and the mount hole was about 1" too high for the transmission to bolt up to. If anybody else has knowlege on this it'd be great.

The transmission mount is the same between the automatic FWD turbo and automatic AWD 1G cars. Are you sure the rest of your mounts and brackets are correct?

I believe they are, the engine mount is new. The transmission couldn't go up any higher because it was hitting the body and it was still at least 1/2" too low for the 8700 mount. It's almost like the inside of the 8700 mount was flipped upside down compared to the mount on the car.

Maybe give us a picture to look at to help confirm that maybe the insert is flipped upside down? I think that's a bit of a stretch but it would be something to check off. Can you also confirm the casting numbers on the front (506) and rear engine brackets (793)?

The pic shows how the mount would bolt up to the frame. I was looking at the mount too and maybe I can press the insert out and rotate it 180 degrees? Maybe it's the wrong mount altogether?

It looks like it is oriented correctly to me. Flipping the insert 180 degrees (or any amount for that matter) isn't going to gain you an inch so I would start looking at other possible culprits.

This is a comparison of the two mounts. The 8700 mount is not the right one. What are my options? I really don't know where to get the right mount.

To get us all on the same page, what is the issue with using the mount on the bottom?

You can try DSM Graveyard - Your #1 Source for DSM Parts! for a used one, or hit up JNZtuning or ExtremePSI with part number MB581831 (w/ ABS) or MB581830 (w/o ABS).

The mount on the bottom is cracked and worn out where I can wiggle the bolt hole in the middle very easily. I'm getting some thumps in the driveline and I'm ruling out the mounts. Could I just put some window weld in the mount and reuse it?

If you wanted to. Check this tech article out, though unfortunately it doesn't have pictures: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/articles-engine-fuel/56990-repairing-firming-engine-mounts.html -- I did find a thread that had some decent pictures the other day but I failed to bookmark it; in any case, the article should guide you pretty well.

There's also this option, but it seems this isn't exactly what you are after: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/articles-engine-fuel/64070-easy-urethane-motor-mounts-cheap.html

Thanks, I'll probably try window weld and just filling in the cracks and gaps and see how it goes. Any of the parts websites for oem mitsubishi has the mount I need, I just needed the part number but it will end up being $80 with shipping.
