I need help, I had a bad DSM day. Started out that my starter was going bad. Thats the good part because I was going to swap it today. Well when I went to start the car no start the starter died... Well Get it over to the heated Garage and take off the uicp and batt and notice that the Ground was loose that the Starter bolt goes into UGH... The Idiot I bought it from was great at not tightening things and I thought I got everything. So then I notice Im missing the Tranny bolt next to it and the other one is loose... So I now Im pissed. Me and my bud noticed that the trans isnt aligned. Well I think the Dowel Pins are gone and I need to get new Bolts.

What is the Thread pitch and size of the Transmission bolts?

and If the Dowels are broken off what do I do?

So now the car sits behind my garage all by itself now its sad. So when I get the FMIC and we are going to fix this

and Drop the trans.

I really hope the Clutch (act) and Flywheel (fidanza) are not toast but we are going to wait for a nice 3 day weekend to get her all ready to go... Im so mad right now that I didnt even check those bolts. But any help will be great.

The mssing bolt and the loose bolt are the same size. Get a bolt that matches the loose one. Here's the 2g bolt sizes. Compare the lengths to the ones you have to see if they are the same. http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/fre...-trans-transmission-gearbox-block-tranny.html

The dowel pins aren't actually a piece of the motor or trans. They are small inserts that fit snugly into holes in the bellhousing and block. It is possible that the previous owner lost these if the trans had been out before. Just get some new ones, there are two and they need to be there if they are missing.

Okay. well the one that was loose was the one starter bolt. and two of the trans bolt one wasnt the right one and the other was missing.

oh i feel you on that one. when i changed out my clutch i realized that my trans was only held in place by 3 bolts! i was amazed the tranny didnt fall out. AND i had the same problem with my starter with one of the bolts worked its way off the stud. that week was a nightmare. i think our cars had the same owner...haha

Yeah It sucks big time... now the car sits there behind the garage.
