2G Transfer case seal

I was e about to replace the rear transfer case seal but when I took the seal out I noticed these two holes are they supposed to be there? Or is it broken or something.

Nope that’s normal. Attached a pic of mine too. Just finished rebuilding mine earlier this year. Not exactly sure on function but probably provides passage for oil through back to the seal area. There is a plastic piece that is mounted in one that runs all the way to the second section of the xfer case.
