2G Transfer case breather

Yes, you need the breather. If you look at how it is designed, it will let fluid/pressure out, but will keep dirt/moisture from entering the transfer case.

So I found that squirrels made a nest behind my engine on top of the Tcase and they made room by getting rid of my breather .

welp it looks like some dirt / debri has gotten inside the breather hole, I assume the best solution is just dropping the Tcase and flushing it ?

Leave the fluid in, slide it off the trans and then slide the drive shaft out, dump all the fluid out the tail shaft. Most likely whatever fell in through the hole will be in the tail section. I'd then pour in a cup of diesel or ATF and swirl it around and dump that out, then refill with gear oil.
