Trans question..

I might be picking up a 1995 TSI awd Auto talon here in the near future and had a few questions. The owner said the trans just stopped engauaging what could cause this? it only has 80k on it and if i go to replace the trans dose it need to be from another AWD TSI auto talon or can it be from any of the 2.0 talons?

a used trans from 91 94 not sure about 90 it may not fit, not sure again, but a used trans can be iffy
you never know, talk him down in price and possibly rebuild it for some reliabilty, i dont trust used transmissions i have them rebuilt, a big headache when some say its rebuilt, went through that with a vendor here but thats another issue.

dose it have to be a AWD TSI trans or can it be a fwd trans?

do you think it could just be jammed up linkage that isnt letting the current trans go into gear? he says he thinks the previous owner installed the trans wrong

Its hard to say without pics of the linkage, fluid level, etc.
