I have a trans question for every one. I have been told and also looked it up in haynes manuel, that there are 3 different trans for the 1g 2.0 n/t. Dose any one know if they can all bolt up with no mods

the reason im asking is that some of them have diffrent numbers of gear teeth. Some are 24 and some are 32 or somthing like that, But thanks now i might be able to find a trans

would a turbo trany work on a non turbo. Going to be adding a turbo at some point

You can use either a tranny from a 2.0 non turbo or from a turbo car as long as its not awd. You can use either tranny when going turbo. From what i know the non turbo 2.0 tranny will help with quicker 1/4 times as long as you are a good driver. I would not recommend using a turbo tranny until you go turbo because your car will not have enough power to realistically use longer gears.

There were technically 3 different manual transmissions for the 2.0L non-turbo 1G, but I have serious doubts the earliest of these can be found anywhere. Here's the different transmissions for 1Gs: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/hangout/387767-eagle-talon-awd-tsi-91-90-a-2.html#post152413343

All 1G, 2.0L, 5-speed, non-turbo DSMs use the same clutch pressure plate, the same axles, and thus can be used in place of each other. They have the same gear ratios as well. Tranny gear ratios for DSMs

You can use the turbo transmission, but it requires other turbo specific parts. The non-turbo transmission has weaker gears, so if you plan on going turbo later, it would not be a bad idea to do that swap now. Here's some information on the swap you will probably find interesting:
