trans cant find 3rd 4th and 5th gear

so when i go to put it in reverse or any other gear but 1st and 2nd the trans wont find it anyone know what could be wrong...

Assuming the transmission is ok, I would check where the cables hook to the trans to see if maybe the brackets came loose. If not, look at the cables to see if one had failed. You can try to shift the transmission after unhooking the cables to verify if it's on the trans side or not. One thing, did this just do it on its own, or has some work been done recently? Give us a little more to go on ok?

same thing happened to me. my shifter cable was busted. check along both your shifter cables and see what you find.

yes i just took out the trans and now its back in i had to put a new clutch in and i have gone though 3 of them..... its making me mad im trying everything i can and i will try that out and see if it my linkage
