1st 3rd and 5th gear

my tranny was rebuilt 6 months ago. everything has been fine since yesterday. I have not raced hard on my car since the new tranny.

Last night, I started my car and was fine going through 1st - 4th gear. I was not able to get into 5th. Since I was on the highway. I stayed in 4th all the way. After about 30 mins of driving. I can no longer get my car into 1st 3rd and 5th gear. I can get my car into 2nd 4th and reverse when the car is off.

I checked the the cables above the tranny and they are connected. What else can I check?

I would take the middle panel out and where the shifter is and check if it is getting stuck somewhere.

I checked that too.. everything is connected and nothing is blocking. Could it be that the parts need some wd40 or something?

To start simply, remove the cables from the tranny, and see if you can get the tranny into those gears.

Describe what you mean by 'cant get it in gear.' Does it grind or just feel like the shifter won't move?

The shifter does not move up.

Ok, disconnect the cables from the trans and move the trans linkage manually to eliminate that as a possibility. If they go into gear fine, the I'd take the center dash out and see what is up with your shifter. The cables could be bad, but it seems more like a mechanical problem with the shifter assembly.

they broke inside the rubber cover didn't they and was pushing the cable out to the side?
