Tranny problems????

hey there.. hadvent been on since my internet was down..

so i got a question..

i was driving to work yesterday, and half way der my car started to act weird..
it started to like kick bak nd didnt feel all the power there..so i pulled over to see wats up.. didnt find nothin unusual.. no check engine light on or heating up or nothin.. so i kept goin since i was running late to work..

2-3 miles more nd i got red.. started to slow down and my car starts tweaking out, once i shifted to nuetral.. almost at the complete stop and BANG.. a loud noise like if something snapped or cracked or even ran against a wall.. im like DAMNNN MY ENGINE :{
so i pull off the road nd get off to check oil, temp, oil spills, anything really to see ### was goin on.. i also walked up da road to see if anythin fell or oil spills.. and nothin.. but i did find like water spots.. very small water spots.. nd seemed to be comin from my car.. but my temp was good and idled good..
callled friends nd family... of course no one answered..

decided to keep on goin hoping nothin bad wud happen.. kept like kickin bak not wanting to respond... took it slow got there..

i workd 6pm-4am.. check for oil spills anything in the bay and nothin.. started right up even with my starter problem.. checked again for oil spills and nothin.. drove around the parking lot and problem came bak kicked bak.. would tweak out nd just not run smooth.. called up a friend nd added like 1/2 quart of oil to see if any difference..
started heading home nd him behind me watching my bak.. it started also doin like a spitting noise when i drive.. like if it was squirting out water or something? but only when it in motion not while at park.
also does a very tiny knock in the engine
found out that when i shift low it jumps even more or just shifting or leaving it in neutral it jumps.. so im guessing my a valve? and tranny problem..

this is my daily driver, and would like some input please.. gonna try and sleep and see first thing when i wake up..

Could the loud bang have been a backfire? Sounds like your getting too much fuel, not enough fuel, or you have a bad o2 sensor, plug wire, spark plugs, EGR valve, coil pack, etc.

What you should do is pull the plugs and see what color they are. The healthy plug color would be a nice golden brown. Smell them and see if they smell like oil, fuel, or something burnt. Also, what does your exhaust smoke look/smell like?

From what your describing, it doesn't sound like a tranny problem... I'm assuming you have a manual, and usually the first wear and tear you will see is bad syncro's, causing it to grind, then eventually pop out of gear.

This kind of happened to me the other night. My car jumped timing. The tensioner failed and allowed slack in the belt. I haven't fixed it yet, but it ran like crap and had no power. Also heard it pinging as it was running lean due to the now incorrect timing. Take the top cover off the timing belt and see if the belt feels loose.

bout go outside nd check it out..but hmm yea ill check the wires and ### not..
ive also heard that the nology wires werent good on DSMs
gonna switch em out nd see how she runs nd ill check the spark plugs if i can get a hold of the right socket

I agree with thomcasey, i've had the same problem and it was timing belt. I would definatly take upper cover off (assuming its still on) and check the belt.

the timing belt seems to be tight..
also yesterday i switched out to stock wires nd seems to kinda do the trick but then taking it to my parents house, half way there i down shifted to go up a small hill and it just kept grinding and didnt walk at all no more. so i pilled off to the side wait for cars to pass by and tried again but just kept grinding and then it got stuck in first gear.. towed it home the rest of the way since wouldn't go on itself.

mechanic saw it today and says it might be the clutch.. should i look for anything in particular??

replace tranny or just clutch and flywheel???
im not good with tranny work

so i got quoted $280.00 for labor and parts in a small shop but dont know if its an oem or stage 1 at least..stage 1 should be more den enough without turbo right??
anyone know were i can find one cheap?? i can have it parked at my parents since der out of the country for a while and i''m using there suv.
greatly appreciate the help
