SO my 90 gs is having isuues with the tranny is having issues. The clutch all of sudden has no pressure in it. I have to press it in about 6 times before i get any pressure so i can take it out of gear or put it in. When it looses pressure the clutch wont disingage. My guess it is either the slave master cylinder or the master. Any input is appreciated.

If you can't find any evidence of hydraulic fluid leaking from the slave or master, then i would lean towards your throw out bearing getting ready to take a dump.

Yup, check your fluid level in the MS. IF it is low, or leaking somewhere, you should replace BOTH, once one fails, the other isn't far behind. If they seem ok, maybe just a bleeding is in order.

chances are it is probable either your master or slave that took a grumpy on you. It could also be your pedal assembly as well in conjunction with a bad master or slave. I wouldn't worry too much about your tranny unless you are getting grinding or bad sounds coming from it. As long as you are getting good engagement and disengagement when you do have clutch pedal pressure it is pretty much a no brainer that the problem lies in the pedal, master cyl or slave cyl or a combination of any of those three. hope this helps ya. Also just try to bleed your system really well. You would be surprised how many times just a good bleeding fixes everything. Good luck to ya fella.:hellyeah:

sorry forgot, It could be a pp issue as well or a throwout bearing but chances are you would be hearing it.

Yeah im leaning toward the slave out of anything. I cant see any leaking from either one. I cant hear the throwout bearing so i dont think that it is. Is there anyway to test either one?

I have seen both fail (mine) without leaking that I could see. The Slave is the cheapest to replace, but looking at the age of your car, it would be a good idea to do both, otherwise the good one now will fail down the road, and strand you again.

As others have already said and you are suspecting, this seems to be a issue with loosing pressure since you have to pump it up before it actually gets pressure to build.

The Master and slave cylinders do not need to leak externally to stop working, the seals on the inside can leak and not build pressure when trying to activate so there is not external sign.

One place you may not have looked for a leak was on the inside of the firewall behind the pedals, I had a MS that was slowly leaking at this location for awhile before I went to adjust the clutch pedal and found it.

Definitely replace them both and save yourself the trouble of having to bleed the system again later! :thumb:
