What would cause and 5 speed manual trans-axle to not shift into 2, 4, R gears. I just had this tranny rebuilt back in march with the same issue and had bearings and syncros replace, differential carrier and speedo gear . Now its back and its kind of like I wasted my money with the first rebuild

Nah. Pretty sure you got a quick fix on your hands. Find your shifter cables that run to your transmission and pin onto the counterweight. There will be a bracket. There should be two shifter cables on the bracket and there is a horseshoe type spacer that goes in front of the bracket and in front of a rubber boot/grommet. If this spacer is not inserted or in proper position on either of the shifter cables, you will lose gears depending on which spacer is not in place.

This has happened to my a few times and it took me the longest to realize what had happened. If both spacers are in, simply tap them out and drop them in again.

Goodluck

The issues has been solved now, what it was is that speedo gear from the sensor got chewed up and was stuck in the internal linkage. When I was ordering the gear a pick up a couple since I only find one place that can get it for me and it was a pain to track down the part number for that m/t gear
