I was at car quest and a guy that normally goes to cayuga runs 9's in his nova. Said they were putting a track up there. Not sure how true it is though.

YES!!! Well i have a big red i thinnnk. I think it's extra, so if you have a small spring currently in there... Might work. Pretty sure i brought it with me from washington but I'd have to check.

Awesome! If I could borrow/buy it from you that would be great. I had a collection of springs, but I also have a problem of throwing things out . Did a pull on the new build and saw the boost heading to 32+psi at 4.8k rpm and am stumped as to how. Bought an o2 housing setup from Punishment racing. They said it had a 20psi spring in it.... Guess it didnt :c. Luckily the car is still all in once piece.

Unless... wait. They dont even make springs that high. Ugh. Time to figure out whats up.

You need dual springs, for instance i have a big red and a small green. 11psi+8psi=19psi total spring pressure, you can get pretty effin high boost springs.

Darn. I have no idea why I'm boosting that high then :/. Feels good, but over 32 psi...

I'm shooting for 38psi after i get new injectors. 30for now daily, I'll look for the spring now, you could be out of luck:/

Just looked through everything i have and no spring sorry man thought i really had it. I need to upgrade to a 25psi spring so maaybe i can work somethin out.

I would love to keep 30+ psi, but I'm still on a stock 7 bolt bottom end. Rods and pistons are purchased, but I never bothered to install them. The Holset spools insanely fast though.

And fingers crossed! I'm just going to have to figure out why the wastegate doesn't open.

Will stanton made 10.3 at 40 psi hx40 stock 7 bolt!!! You have your boost lines correct?

I think so. I removed my MBC and it still happens. I could post a picture of it tomorrow if you'd like a look. And also, I'm still on a base map.

Hum. Take apart the diaphragm and check for tears, how many miles are on the gate?

That's the thing though, its a brand new gate.

Can you push the piston in by hand? U should be able to if it's 11lbs it won't be easy, just try and make it ope , next step I'd say is take out the spring and see if the piston is stuck at all.


Edit: first check your boost line at the wastegate doesnt have burn marks or cracks.

Never tried. I'm hoping I can find out what the problem is by just taking the top off it, if even that. Hopefully it's just an air leak on the vacuum side or something.

The gate is very simple inside, make sure you have a clamp with rubber jaws to close it back up. Make sure the diaphragum is all tucked back in nicely.

I just bought my car and do not know my way around the 4g63 whatsoever. I would love to meet up with someone who isn't crazy far away and see if we can't figure out what has been done to my car. the guy I bought it off of said he replaced 7 bolt w 6 bolt and is running 18 lbs boost. I cannot back that up at all. I'm in desperate need of some info. Its my first car so I'm just kind of learning what is what. I'm 24 you'd think I'd know how to figure this shit out by now being the enthusiast I am... I was just reading your guys convo and its waaaay over my head haha.

How to tell the difference between a 6 and a 7: How to quickly tell a 6bolt and 7bolt engine apart
vfaq.com will become a good friend of yours. Be sure to change your oil, spark plugs, coolant, check the coolant for any oil/ anything that shouldnt be there. Do a boost leak test. Do you have a boost gauge? What turbo does it have? Does the car have any form of adjusting the fuel? (Safc, dsmlink...)



Also, urbansmoker, I can barely afford these new top hats and pay bills. Aint going to have it tuned for another month. Even then, I probably wont run it, because its got to survive over the summer at least without any major issues.

If your on SD i can help you out, like i said I'll be at the track on sunday. What do you mean top hats?

I am using SD. I'm slowly learning. My main worry is still that waste gate though. Top hats> the things that sit between your strut/spring and the body. Picked up some solid ones from RTM.
