Too much boost?

I recently aquired an nsx manual boost controller. I was waiting to install it untill I got a boost gauge because I have been told that the stock ones are crap. So I have the boost gauge ordered and while waiting for it to arrive I started wondering how much boost can I push with a stock fuel system and stock mas. Was also wondering when I install my boost controller do i keep the stock boost valve hooked up? To be honest I am not quite sure how to hook it up. Any help would be appriciated.

You should be able to safely run about 14psi with the stock fuel pump, about 16psi with an aftermarket before you overflow the stock MAS. Atleast thats how it worked for me. It is different for every car though, a logger would help tremendously. But 14psi seems to be safe when everything else is stock. I installed my boost controller between the wastegate and the j-pipe. I removed the stock BCS. There should be a how-to on vfaq.com

Just remember that a stock BOV cant hold boost when increasing it. You need to get a aftermarket in order to be able to boost 14-16 psi... On that note, without the proper mods I would not increase more than 14 psi.

One dsmer to another: This question has been asked many times before, not to seem mean but, the search tool is very useful. I know it seems easier to just ask again but clogs the site.

Back on topic, 14psi should be safe, I recommend nothing more with out supporting mods. You must get a new boost gauge (as seen in thread earlier, ones ordered, good) , a wideband is a must to ensure proper a/f mixtures, some sort of loggers or knock detector. I don't know what your long terms plans are but look into getting dsm link or the like, if you have further future plans.
I feel you sre just turning the boost up for more power and think its that simple. I would be very caustion before increasing your boost level, its an easy way to blow your motor.

I also recommend to checkout and follow the upgrade path on this site, it should also be extremely useful for you in helping get started and get the basics down. Again take caustion in what you do.
