Hello guys, I have purchased a pair of XXR 527
specs are 18x9.5 5x114.3 +20 offset. I am going to be putting them on my 1998 eclipse spyder gs, was wondering which size tires do I buy? keep in mind I am looking for a stanced look so I am looking for stretched tire set up. does anyone have recommendations on what tire brand and what tire size I'd have to buy thanks.

and also by any chance does anyone know if I'd have to get any new lug nuts or extended bolts? thanks looking for best tire set up with a reasonable priced brand tires and the less rub the better thanks.

Ill be the first say that not many in this community "like" the stanced look. But to each his own.

Will do you DDing the car?
Might wanna take that into consideration when looking to stretch and ruin your tires on the reg. As all of the time, a stretched tire is unsafe and what not.

As far as brand goes, does it really matter? The tires are going to be stretched/ruined anyway? IMO I would buy the cheapest set since your not going to get any longevity out of them.

A 225/40/18 is the narrowest tire I'd feel safe driving on a 9.5" wide rim.

Like GoFast mentioned, this definitely isn't the best place to ask serious questions about stancing your DSM because that's not what the majority of our community is about.

Use this website (http://www.tyrestretch.com/) to see photos of what different tire sizes will look like on that wide of a rim, that way you can see how stretched it's going to be. This is of a 225/40/18 on a 9.5" wide rim...

Just remember though, a 225 Falken might not be the same width as a 225 Bridgestone so you'll have to look at the manufacturer specs of each brand of tire.

Search XXR 527 on the forums, you'll find some threads with tire suggestions, I plan on the same thing, you will also find photos. Also in google Type Stance DSM and DSM XXR 527 or DSM 18x9.5.

Even though you already got the 18x9.5, I'm not sure about the spyder but in my opinion you are really pushing it. As far as suspension options are concerned. I'm going with 18x8.75 with +35 or +20 8.75_215_40_R18

18x9.5 +20 you can go with a 235/35 tire and pull out the look that you want, you can also go with 225 which would be more of a stretch for the 9.5, and probably the tire would look to goofy considering you want it as close to the fender as possible with no rubbing.

I think the 235 series suggestion is a good one, but this will all depend on how low the car is, and how much camber is run to achieve the final look. Tuck? Poke? This will impact the tire choice, as will clearance to the strut and fender.

Stretch doesn't ruin tires in and of itself, but make sure you align it. Toe with stretch WILL kill tires quickly.

Also, it does matter the brand. There are certain sidewalls that won't behave as others do. The last thing you want is to go with some shoddy brand and pop a bead at 70mph. Personally, I run Proxes4 on my mild-ish stretch. Good rigidity, quality rubber.

+20 on a car that runs FWD fitment is pretty aggressive. As much as it hurts to say this...Leon is pretty close to right in this thread, though something in the +30ish range may achieve the look a bit better.
