Tips for installing oil pump shaft seal?

My seal there has been leaking pretty bad so I got a new one.

I just need to make sure this thing seals good. I will be coating it with oil on the outside. Should I coat the inside with oil too? And when sliding it in, should I slid it all the way back so it touches the front case?

I don't have a suggestion, seeing as how it's just a seal. I would just install it straight it with a bit of grease on the sides. Make sure it is firmly seated, though.
