Timing tensioner bracket - hole from wear & replace or no?

Just wondering as I'm about to put the timing belt on

The black bracket above the grenade pin that once pulled will launch the tensioner pin from the tensioner; has a notch in the form of a circle where the pin meets the bracket.

Just wondering if the size of the notch is considered okay or to be replaced with new bracket. Thanks.

Key word, should. I wouldn't risk it you can get the brackets for so cheap man go to a junk yard and find one. It really "shouldn't" be a problem but do you really wanna run that risk?

I would be concerned if the circle was not there. The auto tensioners are very fragile and if the arm has a lot of side to side movement they will fail.

Replace it or get it welded up and ground flat. The divot is from wear and since it allows the pin to extended out more into the arm your adjustment measurements will be off.

The rod wouldn't need to extend more than normal if he set the tension right. The timing is set before the grenade pin is pulled so the timing tensioner should have to do any more work than it there was a brand new on there. Regardless its up to you if you want to replace it. I seriously don't think it would hurt you but that is just me.

I said nothing about doing more work.

If you try and check the clearance between the tensioner arm and the top of the auto-tensioner when there is a wear hole in the arm it won't measure correctly. It will be too close. It also reduces the travel the arm can make before it hits the top of the auto-tensioner limiting the range of the auto-tensioner.

Not sure if you can tell by the picture because it's with a phone camera but it's only about .1mil deep.

Yes, it looks deeper than that. Now that you know some of the issues it's your call.
