Everyone makes timing look so easy, i just pulled my head and im clueless as to do timing, im building on a budget and not looking to have someone do it as opposed to how i as doing it before.

Where do i start?
What do i need?

First budget not here do water pump, pulleys all of them and a new tensioner, thats it and the belt and
balance shaft if your using it. Everything else is in vfaq. and get a manual its step by step thats all i used was a manual before i was on tuners years ago. Or before i knew what vfaq was,

I would also recommend getting the tools. It makes tensioning the belt so much easier.

List of stuff to get you started. There might be other stuff you want/need to replace while in there.

And the how to.
Timing Belt VFAQ (Timing Belt TSB - ENHANCED)

Thank YOU! i was looking at the jay racing tool and on vfaq, but there is so much stuff that its hard for me to find what im looking for. I've heard good and bad things about jay racing..

should i bother going with a kevlar timing belt and balance belt? Im replacing everything im not dumb, im saying this budget build isnt taking any shortcuts, but im not going to go out of my way to do everysingle component in my engine.

Also, do i need to but an ac belt? MB568898 if my ac is deleted.

does anyone have a part number for the lower timing belt cover? mines broken into pieces? LOL

Also, i took the accelerator springs off the throttle body, and input on how theres go back in... or should i just buy a new throttle body? what whats the difference between the bores on the throttle body units? what does it do.

I would say just go with OEM belts. No need for kevlar.

No, you don't need an AC belt if you eliminated it.

Timing belt cover (1g 7 bolt) - MD193995

What do you mean by 'accelerator spring'? Can you maybe post a picture?

1g turbo - 60mm bore (uses gasket for throttle body elbow)
1g N/T - 60mm (uses 90* coupler clamped to throttle body)

Theres a throttle cable, when you put the hood up and want to rev the engine you put that down and the engine revs up, i took the nut off of that, and the springs beneath the nut popped out.

I think that is what he is talking about, although I don't know why he dissassembled his throttle body to install his timing belt.

The green spring goes on the inside with the silver spring on the outside. The bottom of both springs have a hook which catches on the throttle body and then you twist the springs to add tension and hook it at the top. Usually before you remove the springs you mark them so you know how tight to put them back on. I'm guessing that you didn't happen to mark your springs, did you?

I was pulling my head.... and being in a dumb state , i wrenched on the bolt that holds those springs in then i figured that my throttlebody was already unbolted and i shouldn't have touched those....

Check vfaq.com also, and its also in the manual i got mine for 20 bucks when i first started i still have it walked me through no problems.

Do you have a manual? It helps a lot. YouTube - 6-Bolt Mitsubishi Timing Belt Replacement

Watch this take your time if your unsure let some who knows do it, other wise youll be looking at replacing the head, Do it then make sure its all correct and the tension is set, It would suck if you have leaks at this time in the timing area pump seals, or gasket, other wise youl have to do it again, and you dont want your new belt to ge get oil on it just something to think about.
