1G Timing dot not showing up under timing light..

Hello, I'm trying to set my timing to 5 degrees and I hooked up the timing light only to notice that the white timing dot was jumping around. I realized I didn't ground the connector on the firewall so I went ahead and did that. Afterwards, I wasn't able to locate the timing dot anymore. I messed around with the CAS a little but I still could't locate it any more. Ideas? Thanks.

I wonder if I haven't aligned the punch mark on the crank angle sensor housing with the notch in plate.

You need to do that ^

Your CAS is reading 180 degrees out, now.

Well I went and reversed the order of the CAS and I'm still getting somewhat the same problem. The dot is floating around but not quite as mush. I wonder if maybe the firewall ground is not make great contact with the sensor.

Is it jumping around constantly? Remember when the fan comes on itll cause the rpms to change. I ususlly use a large fan in front of the radiator to minimize the fan coming on
