Do not put off doing your timing belt!

So I bought my 1g about 4 months ago, told myself I would put a new belt on it and such shortly after I bought it. Well I have put if off for the past few months against my better judgement. Today on the way home I heard a funny tapping noise coming from the Tbelt area. I thought I broke the auto tensioner and it was slapping around. I took the cover off to find the belt had half of some of the teeth missing and others were about to come off. I knew I shouldnt have waited, I really shouldve listened to myself. Luckily it didnt do any damaged, belt didnt jump. Now I get to fix all my oil leaks, replace the water pump, etc. Thank God I caught it before it became tragic. Guys, DO NOT PUT OFF DOING MAINTENANCE!
I know this, and am a seasoned DSMer, but I made excuses to put off doing it. DONT DO IT! Just bite the bullet and do the stuff before it becomes a pricey situation.

Oh man dude you got lucky that thing didn't snap or ruin your head!

rule #1 with our DSM's should be, "be very punctual with mainanance"

Kinda looks like my timing belt from my last talon, I didnt catch it in time though.

Well, I just ordered new timing components and gaskets, plus a stub shaft so I am going to remove the oil pump balance shaft and just keep the front shaft in and put all new gaskets and a new waterpump on it. Unfortunately gonna be down a few days this week but at least I have my other car to drive for the time being.
