i just got rid of my fp manifold and i'm getting rid of my hx35w and i got a t4 hks cast manifold like shep used to have, and i'm trying to decide wich t4 or t4 divided turbo i should go with and i would like some input from everyone.
im looking for something that will support around 550-650hp give or take and not extremely laggy it must be available in t4 or t4 divided. im open to all ideas.
all advice is and will be greatly appreciated,

Jon.

Your goals are not t4 hotside goals to be honest. You could get a t4 turbo that will easily make the power you want but spool with be sacraficed. I would have kept the t3 manifold and bought a stock hx40 with holset hotside.

the reason im going big and shooting for the low side, is ill have a little room to grow .

i just looked up the price for the hks T04z OMG and i pooped alittle in my pants,LOL
i had no idea they were that expensive they look extremely nice, but i would never here the end of it if i dropped that much on a turbo:(

HAHAHA ya why spend that much on a turbo that can be easily comparable to a turbo at a fraction of the cost. I only see those turbos on supras and skylines because the cars cost 50 grand alone. Our 3000 dollar cars dont need 3800 dollar turbos simply put...

I would go holset man. I mean for the price its the right deal... Im going holset all the way on all my cars. Evo and my dsm..

By far the most common bolt pattern on the holset hx40 turbine inlet is the t4 pattern. If you can get a divided runner manifold, definately look at the 18cm^2 hx40 with the pro compressor wheel as an option. T3 or T4, none of that matters for flow unless your talking garrett. And only if you're talking a/r size options and wheel options. Garrett has a "limit" on turbine side flow for the t3 in regards to options in a particular frame size. A bolt pattern is just a bolt pattern. The actual flange won't flow any different, t3, t4 mhi, ihi. So don't worry about which exhaust manifold you want.

i would be happy with a t4 hx40 for now:p if anyone knows where i can get a good t4 hx40 or if anyone want a bep t3 hx35w please pm me and let me know or pm me for details on the hx35:D

Matt I have heard you say this a lot but I have yet to see one and remember a guy in the holset thread complaining all he was finding was t3 hx40's. My hx40 I had had a holset 16cm t3 divided housing on it and the same seller had a BUNCH of the same turbo setup.

I just typed in "hx40" on ebay and every single hx40 for sale has a t4 bolt pattern.

thank you dsmonster i was already looking on there after my last post there is a new one for 230 right now i think im gonna go ahed and pick it up

^^^That is a nice looking *t4 bolt pattern* hx40 with the 60lb/min 8blade compressor and an 18cm^2 turbine housing. Chances are it has the 12blade higherflowing hx40 turbine wheel. With a divided runner manifold, the stock turbine housing,a nd that turbine wheel, you should definately reach your goal with a very respectable spool speed. It's compressor potential is right in the middle of your goal, about 600hp. If you find that you need more, then you can always upgrade to the pro compressor wheel.

Holset t3 pattern turbine inlet. Notice how much closer the bolts are on the shorter side:

THAT is a t4 flange. I know you know this but the way you can tell the difference is t3 flanges are rectangular t4's are square. Even if you add the little section where the holset in that ebay add kinda comes in it's still rectangular.

That bolt pattern of the ebay turbo is very square. It is turned at an angle.

Top is the hx40 for sale on ebay. Bottem is the h1c housing, 18.5 cm^2, and is angled flatter to the camera. And here is my t4 bolt pattern 19cm^2 wh1e (right). Most hx40s have a bolt pattern that matches a garrett t4.

Well I can vouch from first hand experience that there are PLENTY of original t3 hx40's around.

No harm, no foul. The important thing is that turbo will suit 626freak's needs (t4, divided housing, enough flow on the hotside). And all the hx40s listed currently are the same, so he has a good chance on getting a decent deal; except for the knock off, which currently there are 2 listings titled: Super Drag Diesel HX40 HX40W Turbo Charger T4 :notgood:.

How often do the 7 blades pop up? Maybe he should just wait for one of those. Is it cheap to change an 8 blade to a 7 blade?

go with a bulleyepower . i got the s362 extended tip t3 turbo with 4" inlet and 3" vband outlet and it is good for 650 whp and full spool by 3800-3900 rpm .

and you can get them in mitsu /t4/t3 flanged basis

and now you can get them for about $1200

if you got email i can send you all the pics you want of my bw s362 et t3 turbo

and flows i think 66lbs efesently

I don't know. $775 for the s374 is on two pages of the fp site, and even when you put it in your shopping cart the price still is 775. I think FP reserves the $1700 price range for it's own turbos :) . That is a he!! of a typo on several pages.

when i first saw it i also thought it was t3 but i then realized it was at an angle.

if i win the hx40 ill use it for a little while just because im anxious to get my car going again but im going to be picking something big out towards fall so i still have a decision to make:sneaky: so lets hear some more ideas!!

Something big? You can swap the wheel on it for the 70lb/min pro wheel. It's not like the hx40 in a tiny turbine housing hasn't been proven to exceed your goal ;)

I suggest the s372 if you want more than 700whp later.
