I plan on putting a b16g on my stock block with E85 and getting it professionally tuned on Evo 8 ECU (all support mods), going to run the coolant lines, do I need a TT?

This is not my daily driver and I will probably abuse her.

Bottom line dude its all preference!! I like having it for those times you do wanna jet out of the car and run in somewhere quick. If there's a chance it could help prolong the life of the engine in anyway, just from allowing proper cool down, I'm game for that too. We all know anything that can help prolong the life of our dsm's is heaven sent LOL!! :) But who cares don't let your car idle down for a minute, its not hurting my car! Sure you can save $20-30 and just granny the car home or to every parking lot your heading to. Or just get a timer and use it when needed, not like we don't spend money on stupid worthless crap for our cars every now and then anyway. Might as well get something that has alittle function to it LOL. And I also agree I liked having the volt gauge in sight and accurately reading, it actually helped me diagnose a few problems.

I hardly ever did while cruising around town but after a long drive at constant speed i would finish the song that was on or just sat inn the car for 30 seconds to a min just my 2 cents

As stated a hundred times already, it's not needed on turbos that are water and oil cooled. If they were, then all those factory turbo cars they make these days would have one. And before you go saying, "well those cars are not beaten on," think again. Most people do not give to sh*ts about their car. They may not race their new Chevy Cruze, but that car will have a rough life of no maintenance and abuse. :)

Been running without one on my car for over two years now.

I have a turbo timer but only because it was installed when I bought the car. They aren't necessary by any means because I doubt any one is going to do a WOT pull and then immediately shut the car off. And in all honesty, even if you did your turbo would probably be fine.

With that being said I find it ridiculous that a reason for not running one is arguing that it is another component that can fail. Especially when some saying that have a plethora of aftermarket parts that could just as easily fail. I've never heard of a properly installed turbo timer causing any problems. Only thing you will run into is human error.

For how cheap they are and easy to install to me it is worth it just for the reactions I get. Perhaps i'm being a ricer.

A turbo timer is not necessary in our cars but it won't hurt anything by having one. I put one in my car because I figured letting it cool a little longer without having to sit there and wait seemed to make sense. Needed or not it makes me feel better!

You never know, things can and do go wrong. Mine worked fine for over 2 years, then every once in a while the timer wouldn't shut the car off. It would cut the power to the ignition, but as soon as it did, the timer repowered and the countdown began once again. I like having the peace of mind knowing that my car is off when it needs to be, so I quit using it.

I'd just like to say personally, if I'm messing with my 2 step and launches close to home, it's nice to have the timer.

Also if it's effin cold out and you wanna warm up the car but not worry about people stealing it. (If you live in a theft like area/heavily populated)

Thetr have been times ive launches and done a 1,2 and half of 3rd up my driveway (long driveway) and when i get home it's nice to park and lock her up while shes timing and forget about it, instead of having to wait, sure i could go drive around a little
More, but I'm already home.. but having a long driveway is fun (1/8 mile) :sneaky:

Can't say i still do that since i have since moved, but I'm sure I'm not the only one that has lived on large property.

I cant find the thread but a guy had a TT on an the throttle plate stuck open or some shit as he was shutting it off. LOL, couldnt figure out how to kill it and it ran full blast for 2 minutes til it grenaded. Now it was improperly wired for sure and he couldve done a milliion things to kill the motor but my point is something besides my key turning my 6k motor off?? Hell no, i want to be in control of everything.

And youre literally going to do a hard pull right into your driveway? Usually the cool down is done by the time you do your pull and get to where you park.

i dont beleive thats a true story? and if it is, what an idiot...
