My car has decided it likes going if when i dont want it to. I was sitting at a red light and all of a sudden rpms started going up to about 5000 the car is automatic so I was smoking the front tires while stomping the brake. So slapped the car in neutral and after a few secs rpms went down put it back to drive took off and when i let off the gas it drops to about 2000 rpms. Got home with the car in park if you touch the throttle at all rpms jump up to about 5000 slowly go down to 2000 and after about 1 min goes down to 800. I have vac gauge it showing all good so I assumed TPS put new one on cars been good for a few weeks then today problem started up again. Haven't done any new mods
so heres a list of things I have checked
new TPS
vac good
throttle cable not over tighten or catching
EGR is blocked off
Any thoughts would be much welcomed:banghead::banghead::banghead:

:hmm:, I wonder... if a faulty TPS signal to the ECU is preventing the IAC from closing when you're coming out of cruise. Have you tried changing/cleaning the TPS connector or even testing the connection to the PCM? Is it properly grounded? 5v vref? Intermittent connections can be hard to find assuming your IAC controller and its harness is fine. Have you tried scanning it for CEL's?

I will check and see what my volt meter reads ,I cleaned conectors when i put in the new TPS ,The only cel I get is o2 but its been throwing that cel for over 3 years Another thing I forget to mention was on one occassion when it happened my speedomoter and RPM gauge stopped reading at all for a few min

This may sound stupid, but have you taken the throttle body off and checked it yet? It probably isn't the issue, but for a few minutes of your time, a couple of bolts, and some carb cleaner, at least you could check it off the list, right?

Certainly wouldn't explain the electrical/gauge issue...not sure what advice to give on that one other than to check wires, connections, and grounds, a funky ground can cause all sorts of craziness to happen (I've seen far too many unexplainable faults corrected by fixing/cleaning the grounding)...

Wish I had more to give you...keep us posted at least.

Try getting rid of the Toyota gas pedal. LOL

ZING!LOL

No seriously though...To the OP, make sure your wire harness isn't melted against the EGR tube. You noted that it's blocked off but not necessarily completely pulled out. I can only guess if you have it blocked off correctly if you haven't completely pulled it. Also, check the IAC itself. Pull it and clean the port in the TB and the pin on the sensor. If you have access to an electrician's power supply, you can test the IAC with slight voltage increases starting at the base reference voltage. It should screw the pin out/in for every increment you increase/decrease the voltage. If it doesn't, you've found your problem. Hope this helps.

the egr is completely removed and blocked I checked for burnt wires already hoping to get a easy fix, this weekend im going to pull the throttle body and clean just to make sure its not hanging up internally. I noticed one of my stereo speakers cutting in and out and when i tapped the center counsal it cam back on So I am also going to pull it and check for melted wires in my dash I'll keep you all posted
