My car has decided it likes going if when i dont want it to. I was sitting at a red light and all of a sudden rpms started going up to about 5000 the car is automatic so I was smoking the front tires while stomping the brake. So slapped the car in neutral and after a few secs rpms went down put it back to drive took off and when i let off the gas it drops to about 2000 rpms. Got home with the car in park if you touch the throttle at all rpms jump up to about 5000 slowly go down to 2000 and after about 1 min goes down to 800. I have vac gauge it showing all good so I assumed TPS put new one on cars been good for a few weeks then today problem started up again. Haven't done any new mods
so heres a list of things I have checked
new TPS
vac good
throttle cable not over tighten or catching
EGR is blocked off
Any thoughts would be much welcomed

, I wonder... if a faulty TPS signal to the ECU is preventing the IAC from closing when you're coming out of cruise. Have you tried changing/cleaning the TPS connector or even testing the connection to the PCM? Is it properly grounded? 5v vref? Intermittent connections can be hard to find assuming your IAC controller and its harness is fine. Have you tried scanning it for CEL's?
